This is a followup to the hydroponic fertilizer experiment. A lot has been learned with this experiment, with the biggest thing being the differences in Urea vs. Nitrate based fertilizers. The Miracle Grow and Triple 20 were Urea based, as opposed to the Masterblend which was nitrate based. As it turns out, Urea nitrogen is better suited for soil use, since it requires bacteria to convert it to useable nitrates for the plants. Here are a couple of articles:
