Wikipedia says strawflowers are native to Australia and bachelor's buttons are native to Europe. Not sure exactly where you're located but what about Mountain Mint or Liatris? You might be able to collect some seeds in the wild or w/Liatris spicata sometimes you can get the bulbs around fall time really cheap. Butterfly weed maybe too is becoming more available (seeds and starts). Rudbeckia, coneflowers and coreopsis are hard to go wrong with 😊.
Those plants you call Iris are Canna's, not Iris.
