Gary Pilarchik: What are Those Bumps on My Tomato Plant/Stems? – The Rusted Garden 2013

A tomato is a vine that will root anywhere along the stem. If you live in areas of high humidity or get many days of rain… bumps may appear all over the stems of your tomato plants. Don’t worry it is perfectly normal. The plant is trying to send out roots. The excess humidity and rain trick it to thinking its is contact wet ground.
