Gary Pilarchik: Managing Blossom End Rot in Container Tomatoes: Pelleted Lime/Calcium – TRG 2014

Blossom End Rot is a disease that turns the bottoms of tomatoes brown. It is often related to a calcium issue and can also be due to a moisture issue. Or a combination of both. Whatever the reason… adding pelleted lime stone to your container tomatoes and even peppers will help prevent this disease. Remember container soil often needs more nutrients and elements for your vegetables because of soil leaching. I add lime 2-3 times over the gardening year.
