4" right angle grinder with a 4" 80 grit disk for the mowerblades. It knock off all the crap and sharpen blade, boom done
Boiled linseed oil also works well to preserve metal.
I have a old beater shovel that lives outside and I used a turpentine/pine tar finish on the handle. Just put the mix on the hand on a hot day or use a heat gun to burn it into the wood, so it's not sticky. 🙂

Which abrasive disc/pad did you use first on the shovel, I recently got the m12 grinder and I’m looking for a disc/pad that I can use on mower blades. Any help would be appreciated!
I think you sharpened the wrong side of the shovel blade!
