  1. Love your backyard Linda!! You have inspired me to begin working in mine! So far I have made a round brick 'rug' for my table area and I love it! Plus walkways from my patio to different parts of my yard! Quick question, do you mix the pea gravel with your mulch or just add light layer on top of your mulch? I'm hoping to do something similar. I cannot grow grass with so much shade

  2. I use walnuts or pine nuts. I’ll try roasting my walnuts this time with the last of my basil harvest. Thanks for that idea. Last year I had so much parsley in my herb potager that I made parsley pesto. It was delicious.

  3. If you have a serving banquet table for outdoor entertaining while listening to music or sports games from inside won't leaving those windows open bang people in their heads or eyes from the corners of the open windows. Shou,d of gone with different better suitable opening windows.

  4. I have to say as beautiful your front yard has become, your backyard transformation and the styling has to be my favorite. It's absolutely breathtaking!!!

  5. The storage area, the thin narrow path, there you could plant a climbing hydrangea. This is quite a low maintenance plant that. Just an idea. Kind regards, Marcus

  6. I was just wondering Linda, with everything else looking so lovely, when might you be adding that trellis panel to your back entry gate?

  7. I covet those galvanized tubs! Everything looks fabulous, I'm just amazed at the transformation. I do hope that the garden journals arrive before Christmas, I pre-ordered them for my shop, The Cupboard, my customers adored your first book and are looking forward to getting the journal. Happy gardening, it really is beautiful!

  8. Try nasturtium leaves instead of basil. I use pecans in that variation of pesto, their sweetness cuts the peppery bite of the nasturtium.

  9. Linda your entire project is stunning and beyond expectation…..Thank you and Stewart for all the joy you have given us Love Lindy😊😊😊😊

  10. Linda – i just love how beautifully your backyard has come together, it feels so warm and welcoming. Love, love, love it.

  11. Have been so excited about your work on this property from day one. I even go back and watch some over like this one.

  12. Did I miss your mention of the Japanese Maple? What is the cultivar? I stumbled onto MrMaple and theu offer a HUGE choice of Maples, conifers and Gingkos for those of us who end up becoming obsessed and collect.
Curious what cultivar you placed, expected growth, light needs?

  13. You've put in so much work into your yard
and it's all coming together beautifully. It might be fun to cut out the bottom of a pot and set it over the cleanout at the base of your stairs and then set another pot inside of that so you can grow a beautiful flower right there. If you need to get at the clean out you just have to lift it up.

  14. Hi Linda, the light this morning really makes your backyard plantings illuminate. It's just lovely! I have a suggestion for your side yard outside the kitchen window and that is to add bird feeders. I have several within view of my kitchen and they are delightfully entertaining. My pesto is made with toasted walnuts too. 😘

  15. Hi Linda, What do you do with your Boston ferns during the winter? Do you overwinter somehow inside? Or, start new in the spring? Thank you!

  16. Could you not use your existing back gate at your garage back entrance when you get the other one replaced tokerp it all looking even just a thought

  17. it all looks amazing. You are truly gifted at transforming Linda. It's unbelievable how much the back garden has changed, you had the vision and with hard work and patience you've realised it.
Love that morning light coming through the ferns on the plant theatre. An idea for your tree stump (well a little more than a stump) by the terracotta pots, remember the backyard you visited your friend and neighbour, at the bungalow with the appeltini door. He had planters at the base of the trees with climbing vines, another option for you, with some tiny sublte fairy lights winding through, think it would look great with that bistro area.

  18. We have a fenced in area in our backyard that we are considering removing the grass. Your backyard is the perfect inspiration! We are on 8 acres but the fenced in area is no larger than yours. Beyond the fence is forest that my husband keeps the floor of beautifully clean. ❤

  19. Hi Linda, your backyard looks fantastic, I like you style, I have que I have a Oakleaf hydrangeas gatsby star planted 2 years ago under locus tree and it’s not doing that great , I am planning to transplant it to another location, I see a Oakleaf at your yard, is it transplanted from other location? If yes when is the ideal time?
