Gary Pilarchik: MFG 2016: Starting Peas in Peat Pots & Transplanting Peas to Containers: Start 3 Weeks Early!

Start peas indoors 3-4 weeks early before the ground is ready. Use peat pots and transplant them directly into 5 gallon containers. Peas can take a frost but really can’t be planted as seeds in the ground when the ground is cold a water logged. The seeds tend to rot. Start them in cells and get peas to the table early!
