Backyard Garden

Family Transforms Tiny Suburban Backyard into Thriving Permaculture Gardens – Abdallah House Tour

Welcome to the first episode of our new series, Permaculture Tours. In this series we’ll be diving deep into some amazing properties designed using permaculture principals, with the aim of giving you inspiration and ideas on how to apply these solutions in your own life.

In this episode we take a tour of Richard and Kunie’s property, Abdallah House, in Seymour, Australia. On this 1/7th of an acre property, the owners have made the most of the available space through thoughtful design of the garden, house, and marginal spaces.

  1. I'm in the yard all the times, and my feet, hands and hair are always messy and dirty. Most gardener have messy hair. lol.

  2. Just curious but how many people would pay to have a permculture farm this made?
How about a subscription for maintainence?
And what about a lowered or free offer of the services based on a model where you give a part of the produce or surplus as payment recurring?

  3. Pro Patria Centre of Veterans Excellence Wagga Wagga. We are putting in a 2.5 acre permiculture garden.

  4. Hope you're all ok there…just saw that Seymour was included in the area of flooding…

  5. Thank you for your inspiring work. Subject ideas? How about expanding permaculture into zones 3 and 4 by including woodland potentials. And in looking at those woodlands and their rewards, could we consider a form of "Coppice Agroforestry", and its ancient practices for producing rotations of "small wood" for food, fuel, fiber and medicine.
Thanks again for all you do.

  6. Great video, thanks for sharing.
I'm part of a team that's building a permaculture learning center in Conondale in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland. We have been here 12 months now and have made some amazing progress. Our swales are heading towards a food forest, we' have the chickens making compost, a water filtration System inspired by Jon Jandai and his video using Josh Kerns design. There's heaps more going, on, too much to mention, lol.
We were wondering if you would be interested in coming out here and doing a video on the place, I think we would be perfect for your series and we could really do with the exposure. Love your work. Hope to hear from you soon.

  7. So good. I just bought an old 50s weatherboard in almost original condition. I want to work towards these concepts particularly the glasshouse room, gravity fed water system, cool cupboard and optimise north facing aspect. However being a single mum I can imagine this would cost a lot to achieve initially….. but where there’s a will there’s a way! Thanks so much for sharing. Where would I start with initial design concepts Eg placement of water tank anf glasshouse room thanks 🙏

  8. I read 'tiny' so I thought "tha's for me!! ". Turns out that Einstein was right, everything is relative… sigh.
But it's a very nice and inspiring place and video. 🙂
