Not many people think of planting carrots in containers but these are quite shallow rooted varieties that are perfect for container gardening. They are called a Parisian carrot and they make a nice neat little ball carrot that is perfect for adding to stews or eating as a snack. And they dont take up a ton of space so you can grow quite a few in a container.
Turnips on the other hand might have difficulty in these containers, but thought I would give it a try.
And finally the leeks, they should do nicely in these containers, and I also left a little room at the top of the container to be able to cover them once they reach the right height, so the bottom portion of the leaves will be white and not green, which is the best part of the leek.
