Renovating a 100-Year-Old Suburban Home | Windy City Rehab | HGTV

Alison renovates a century-old home for a couple moving from the city to the suburbs. Among their asks are a full kitchen renovation, new landscaping, and to knock down some walls to open up its boxy layout.

Interior designer Alison Victoria combines upscale design with a passion for her hometown as she buys and restores old homes in Chicago. For these neglected homes in historic neighborhoods, she works to restore dignity to the homes while adding more square footage, style and modern twists. But each house has a past, and she never knows what challenges lie hidden beneath the decades of paint and plaster. #HGTV #WindyCityRehab

  1. That is a beautiful home. Did they not add extra height to the kitchen counters. It looks like they're at a normal height. Won't that be uncomfortable for them?

  2. Im not sure about the floor tile being in a diamond pattern. It sort of makes it look like old laminate or something

  3. Can I do a mural like that in our apartment kitchen? lol I love everything, except for the kitchen floor tiles. Some kind of white and black marble, or whatever Nate Berkus uses would be nicer.

  4. This remodel was stunning! First, the entry into the living room, wow, the stained glass or leaded glass is exquisite, the green, grey and white with the wood, perfection, so smooth looking. The dining room, I got goose bumps, even choked up, lol, the artists mural was breathtaking! Also, loved the round white table, which lead into the all white sitting room. That was a must, can't take away from the mural!
Then the kitchen, wow! I'm not a fan of bl&wh floor tiles typically, but this with the houses history, soapstone counter, etc all fit in just beautifully. That liquor cabinet is to die for, wish it was more in the open, but for the space it works.
One of the finest remodels, loved that they didn't paint over the wood! Stupendous job Allison!

  5. This makeover is amazing! The special details, like the painting and pretty windows, are great. And the kitchen is fantastic! I'm excited to see the final result.
