Just got this and plan to repot in grittier. Is this how it should look, a soft spot on one of the leaves and one on each bottom? I have one other mesembs but it’s just at the split / starting to grow it’s new set of leaves. I haven’t had one reach this stage yet.
Edit to add: I haven’t watered it. This is exactly how it was received from an online vendor.

It is splitting, but it should not be looking like that, especially the base. That looks like rot. And it being soft to the touch also confirms it’s most likely rot. I would reach out to the vendor and ask for a refund or a new one if possible.

I don’t think it’s salvageable, but you can try.
