Organizing a Gardening Workspace with Sheds

Learn how to turn unused outdoor space into a useful, organized gardening workspace with two Rubbermaid sheds, a potting bench, and an awning to pull it all together.

Rubbermaid sheds are useful and versatile. Use one to hold large things like hose and rakes and yard tools, and customize the other one, using Rubbermaid shelving, mixing long and short shelves to maximize storage.

You can make a great little catchall out of a section of gutter by screwing it onto the door. You can also make a homemade dry erase board out of a white hardboard panel, which is water resistant and ideal for an outdoor space.

Add functionality to the space with two simple frames. On one of them, attach hardware cloth to the back for use as great drying rack for herbs or flowers, or use s-hooks and hang gloves or tools. Add hardboard to the other one and paint it with chalkboard paint and you can draw on it, write notes, or making shopping lists.

The centerpiece of this whole area is a wonderful potting bench. Watch the video on how to put together this potting bench: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N1vxPyjg4I
