Tenryu-ji Temple & Scenic Japanese Garden and Bamboo Garden in Kyoto Japan

Hi everyone, Konnichiwa and welcome back to my channel! Today We are going to visit Tenryu-ji Temple, a hidden gem for people who have heard about but never seen a Japanese garden. Join me as we explore the rich history, stunning gardens, and the spiritual tranquility that this Zen temple has to offer. The most significant temple in Kyoto’s Arashiyama neighborhood is Tenryuji. It is presently listed as a world historic site and was rated as the best of the city’s five major Zen temples. Tenryuji is the principal temple of the Rinzai Zen school of Japanese Buddhism, which is its own school.
The majority of the current halls at Tenryuji, such as the main hall (Hojo), drawing hall (Shoin), and temple kitchen (Kuri), with its recognizable little tower, originate from the comparatively recent Meiji Period (1868–1912). Tenryuji’s buildings have been destroyed by fire and conflict numerous times throughout the ages.
Tenryuji’s garden, as opposed to the temple buildings, has endured the ages in its original state. Designed by famous landscape designer Muso Soseki, who was also responsible for the Kokedera gardens and other significant temples.
If you’re planning to visit Tenryu-ji, here are a few tips: Dress respectfully, as it’s a place of worship. Don’t miss the nearby Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. It’s a beautiful complement to your visit.
The bamboo garden has one short route that you can take, but you cannot just go aimlessly through it. I find it fascinating how their bodies wave in the wind.
Being among bamboo trees affects you much more than what you see in the video, be sure to come to the bamboo garden.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure. If you liked this video, don’t forget to give it a thumbs up, share it with your friends, and subscribe for more exciting travels and discoveries. Until next time, Take care and keep exploring!
