Edible Gardening

I Bought A New Homestead Property!

I’m very excited to announce that I bought a new homestead property! It has been a dream of mine to own land, and now that dream is finally a reality. After nearly 2 years of searching, I found a piece of zoned agricultural land that was the right fit for me. In this video, I take you along for the first property tour!

The intent of this land will be to build a future homestead. This will include a home, numerous food forests, an orchard, and of course, an extensive vegetable garden and greenhouse. This is the first step in a long-term plan. I’m still going to be in North Carolina for several years until I can afford to make my dream a reality. However, I’m so incredibly excited to take the first step in my homesteading journey that I had to share this with you!

This is a garden update and garden tour like no other! It’s been hard for me to keep this secret, and I’m thrilled to finally share it with you all. The only reason why I’m able to take this step is because of the support and motivation you’ve all given me over the years. Please join me in touring my future homestead!

  1. That is awesome! We bought some land almost 7 years ago, with the same goal. The best decision we made, will build and move there in less than 2 years, when I retire.
You will have so much fun!
Can you teach how to graft persimmons? I have a delicious giant fuyu tree where I live now, and many American persimmons on my property.

  2. Congratulations- really happy for you. I transitioned from Northern NJ to Northwest Florida and brought all my fig trees that you taught me to root and grow in containers. Very different down here, but I'm really liking it. You may want to start thinking about that pool for the homestead (and now you can try those loquat trees that you avoided in SC because of the hard freezes). All the Best.

  3. Can’t wait for future vids in my local area! Welcome! Is this 9b? Growing in ground is new with nematodes for me so I’m mainly in containers. Interested in what you’ll create.

  4. WOW!!Had I known, I would have suggested Warrenton, GA!! Twice the land, half the price!! Contact the Commissioner!!
    A Follower!!!

  5. That’s awesome!!! Where in FL, like specific county? I want to grow mangoes and I want to be in an area that can grow mangoes well.

  6. I am on a 16 acre farm in N FL Panhandle. Its gorgeous rural country here, zoned Ag with green rolling hills, moss laden Oaks but less than a hour to white sugar sand beaches. We have another 60 acres behind us but its not cleared yet. 3 ponds, 1 creek. Whoever thinks you cant homestead in FL is so wrong. Growing things has its challenges here but its well worth it. North FL is so much less crowded, hardly any traffic, and less crime than S or Central FL.

  7. Congratulations! Looking forward to years of new content as you turn it into a lush food forest! What's the growing zone there? You will definitely have tons of avacados.

  8. Very cool and congrats! Where in N central Fl are you here? I am in W central Fl and would love to chat sometime and maybe give you a few pointers for growing down here.

  9. Cabbage palm is edible. Most of the muscadine grapes around here are male and don't produce fruit and they are everywhere! If you have a creek you probably have wild taro as well, which is also edible. I'm guessing with the "puddle jumpers" you are in the Ocala area. Nice area. Not sure about Ocala but over here on the NE coast and down in the SE we were really short on rain this year so I would check with the neighbors about the rain and if it floods before trusting being there doing what is historically our rainy season because we didn't have much this year.

  10. Congratulations on the new property and best of luck with the move. Curious to know if local laws will allow the use of the creek water for irrigation?

  11. Congratulations, how exciting! I am curious as to why you chose Florida and going further south rather than looking for a larger piece of land in North Carolina. You talk so much about disease and insect pressure, and with the heat being more intense in Florida I imagine things are worse there. Not trying to yuck your yum, just genuinely curious. Thanks for sharing!

  12. Amen brother. It’s really beautiful. I love it. I myself always like bigger land for more gardening. Love it love it 🙏😊

  13. Happy you found what you love! But sad you won’t be in the same growing zone for us. Can’t relate much with Florida.

  14. Welcome to Florida! What county are you in? I’m coming to you from Flagler County🩵 I love your channel!

  15. Why do you want to buy property down in Florida where it's even hotter than where you are? I think you're crazy to buy in Florida you should look in your own home state of South Carolina
