Lawn Care

What’s causing spongy lawn and little dirt pellets?

The lawn is spongy underfoot and these dirt pellets are pouring out the side. What’s making the dirt rise and shift?

Worms, those are worm castings, your lawn likes them, free aeration

Spongy lawn I thought indicates you may have grubs. Hmmmmm

It could be a long shot but I would peel back a little bit of the turf to see what type of worm is there. Asian jumping worms are spreading throughout the United States and they are not beneficial to the soil. They remove all organic material and leave nothing of value in their casting. There are several websites with pictures to identify them compared to the European earth worm (night crawler)
