In this segment we’re going to cover how to mulch your lawn. The easiest way to mulch your lawn is to use a mulching mower. That’s a mower that does not have a side shoot that you’re probably all familiar and sees that throws the grass clips out the side, but rather its entirely sealed, so the grass clipping stay inside the mower and get chopped up a little like a Cuisinart, and then they’re dropped back down into the soil or on to the lawn so it they can fertilize the soil. So, you want to have a mulching mower with a mulching blade, and in fact there are special mulching blades called gator blades that have extra teeth that help chop up those grass clippings.

You can find those online and fit your lawnmower with one of those. You’ll also want to make sure that you mow frequently and never take off more than a third of the blade of the grass, because one of the problems with the mulching mower is since you’re not throwing it out the side is that it can get balled up underneath the mower and leave piles of grass clipping around. You don’t want that to happen. So, you want to mow frequently so that the clippings don’t ball up under the mower and get left in piles on your lawn. So use the mulching mower, use a mulching blade, mow frequently, and don’t let the clipping pile up.
