One Yard Revolution: How a Blanket of Snow Helps Keep Our Plants Warm ❄️❄️❄️

Snow is an excellent insulator and I sometimes leave it on our hoop house and other structures to keep our plants warmer. Today I’ll talk about how we use snow as insulation, when we decide to remove snow, and when we leave it alone.

I remove snow when:
1:03 it may cause structural damage
1:39 it’s sunny (south side only)
Assuming there isn’t enough snow to cause structural damage, I use snow as insulation:
2:17 on the north side of the hoop house and low tunnels
2:49 when it snows in the evening or night
3:03 when it’s cold and overcast
