  1. Thank you Alan, I hope this instruction for humongous garden spaces also works on my little lawny.

  2. Very good Alan but wheres your knee pads, I would expect a professional like your self to have all the safety gear to set a good example.

  3. Lol a much easier way to compact the soil is to lay an mdf board on the soil and walk on it, 10 times quicker and looks much better and is far more level. Come on Alan!

  4. I had some turf delivered once and asked the bloke if he had any laying tips. He said " yes mate, green side up!"

  5. Doing our new landscape. Thanks for your help Alan! I am now ready to pull up my sleeves, garden boots on and guess what I'll do next :-). Happy gardening!…

  6. Hi Alan im fan of yours i need some advice and tip to plant north faceing garden in london uk i cant afford to pay someone to do it for me many thanks

  7. A serrated bread knife would be a far better for cutting the edges.,,,,,,,, plus i thought you had to remove then bigger stones?
If Alan can't answer these questions there should of been a gardening expert to man this topic to answer our questions.

  8. This garden is lovely unlike that at his House in Alderney, Channel Islands which is rather unkempt, but then again the Alderney house isnโ€™t kept for the enjoyment of the garden rather itโ€™s kept for the enjoyment of knowing one is paying far less tax than his neighbours in Medstead, England. After all he is a BBC presenter.

  9. All the turf-laying guides I've found so far seem to skip the process of levelling the ground first when it's very bumpy and uneven. With a big area you just can't do this by eye and feel. I think it's going to prove to be a bit technical and involve spirit levels, pegs, string and very long lengths of timber? Any tips anyone?

  10. Carpets are for Houses, seed is for lawn… learn how to level, de-stone, rake, fertilise, rake, seed, rake, water and grow a real lawn. And then my son, you will be a real Greener!

  11. Thank you, Alan. You were definitely my โ€œgo toโ€ Man, so I could learn how to lay my new lawn. Thank you for such a helpful and easy to understand video. Thank You. x

  12. I was sat outside my local watering hole with my pal and a truck with a load of lawn turf passed by and I remarked that I'm going to do that when I win the lottery , he said " what get your lawn professionally turfed " I replied no I'm going to get it sent away to get cut!!! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  13. come on now .. buy – rent or borrow a roto tiller ! once you laid the new sod … use your pitch fork and punch a load of hole in all of the pieces of sod , it helps to allow the water to flow to the roots of the grass and it helps to break up the firmly pack soil of the sod !

  14. Nazi rainbow flag… Not trying to spread hatred, but you guys need to stop coming after children, it's absolutely disgusting
