I guess this is what Bunny Ears do at ~5 mos in the fall. It’s gnarly how those cute lil ears burst and rip open. Looks like bird beaks busting through.
Reminds me of cheiridopsis, they also grow as one “ear” initially and then later split into 2 ears. They just don’t ever get the “head” like bunny ears have.
