Container Garden ~ Hands Off My Kale!

Today I give you an update on my container/balcony garden. I have purchased more containers and more plants and the critters have been exploring my purchases. When I planted in these pots I knew I’d have to do some sharing!

  1. I would suggest some chicken wire- I purchase it in craft rolls to keep the bunnies & squirrels out of my garden pots🥰 Not sure about Canada but for around $10🤗

  2. Thank you for sharing this video it reminds me of my mother her favorite flower was irises call them Flags I really like this video a terrific patio Garden

  3. The title of your video had me giggling. I think you will have a losing battle with the critters and the kale. Lol. When I saw your geraniums, it reminded me of my grandmother. She use to grow pots of them on her fire escape in nyc..She loved the red ones like your mother. I like your pink ones. Sometimes when I see geraniums I tear up. But mostly, I smile and laugh. When I think back, when I was a kid I use to sleep over her apartment all the time. If we had ever had a fire and had to exit from the fire escape we would have had to move all of those geraniums out of the way. I'm laughing about that now. I wasn't thinking that way as a kid. I use to hang out of her window, looking at how pretty they were. And loving looking up at the Empire State building. Thanks for the wonderful memories Michele. Your greenery view is gorgeous. 💗

  4. Have you considered planting a cherry tomato instead of the kale? My local critters in Wisconsin don’t bother tomatoes. Love your patio.

  5. Hi Michelle ~ Oh Rats [or in this case, I guess it's Oh "Squirrels" ] : ( … I'm sorry to hear that ! that said, I saw but didn't comment on your other Balcony video but WOW – I have to say that your View is GORGEOUS & all your Planters etc look Fab !!! … Truly happy for You – I'd imagine it's like 'waking up at the cottage every day'
I am 'not' a great Gardener by any means BUT 1 thing I do know is that Kale & Basil shouldn't be planted together / not complimentary …. You may / probably know this but thought I'd just share "in case" you tried & didn't know ~ you've already been through enough ! lol
As for the Mosquitos, I [sadly] have quite a bit of experience w/ them : ( last summer I finally bought the Off Mosquito Repellent CLIP – ON … it was okay (?) {said with a lame [at best] tone} lol BUT it did ''work'' but you ''had to'' sit TOTALLY STILL for it to be 6.5-ish /10 effective. On to planting Citronella, I think I see you've planted it … [in my opinion] it doesn't work for me, but may work for you / where you live ~ Now, on to some GOOD NEWS … the very BEST thing I ever did for myself at the Cottage OR at our Home here is to have a Good ole' FAN (ie) $14.99 or so from Walmart/Can Tire/Giant Tiger etc blowing on Low OR Med. if need be (etc) back & forth in front of Me : ) This is a Mosquitos WORST NIGHTMARE & NEMISIS !!!!! : ) … NO MORE Costly $ Off Sprays, Deet, Creams, Citronella Candles, Mosquito Coils ETC !! … As for the Fan, you buy it once, run a short extension cord to it & no more $$ spent & totally 'effective' every time ! : ) As a Plus, I don't like getting "really hot" so it's a nice 'added Bonus' to have a little air / breeze circulating (it works for Me) In closing, nice-enjoyable / funny-cute filming (squirrels/suspects) cute-sweet whimsical music & updates ! Thanks for sharing the endearing story about your Mom (ie) Ger-awn-ee-ums : ) Lovely !

  6. Some get yards of bridal tulle to cover their plants. They say it’s inexpensive and can be purchased by the yard. Great video !!

  7. Wow you have definitely upgraded your view. If you still have your kale, kind of replant and sprinkle with hot sauce or cayenne pepper, or both. Also sprinkle it around for balcony. Maybe after a few days they will give up. MAYBE. lol. The geraniums are beautiful. I love the pink. Have you ever seen the salmon geranium. I love that color. Take care..
