  2. Good insight, new compost bin started and last years will finally be ready this spring. Maybe now I can keep a continuous cycle. I’m looking forward to 24 and February potatoes varieties. Everything from seeds this year. Shopping for starter trays and heat mats. Any suggestions?

  3. Fantastic episode.
Just moved to my new house
    VA zone 7
Can't wait to start a garden like yours ( yours looks very organized and beautiful), and for sure, we will be building a green house like yours .
I honestly don't know where to start and am looking for guidance .
Which of your videos will help jump-start my dream of vegetables self-sufficient .!!
    Thank you, sir .

  4. Here in central Alabama, night time temps have been down to the mid twenties. I just harvested the last of my last generation of turnips. My newest turnips are starting to produce root balls—just in time! I have a few odd golden beets that are growing. The Navone Gold Rutabagas aren't quite ready to harvest—soon though. All of my Elephant Garlic, and grocery store mystery garlic have sprouted. Thanks to my cat Angel, they aren't in neat rows, and some are clustered together. I'm still harvesting Pak Choy, Nagasaki Cabbage, Yellow Heart Winter Choy, and Komatsuna. As for my Kohlrabi, plenty of healthy leaf growth, but no root balls. I'll give them a little more time. My root spacing is twice what Seed to Seed recommends for spacing. It may not be a producer for me? Oh well, I have plenty of other plants on my planting list. In the spring, I am going big on my herb garden, spearmint, peppermint, comfrey, dill, Greek Oregano, Sweet Marjoram, garlic chives, parsley, catnip, cilantro, Chicory, Lemon Thyme, Cinnamon Basil, Italian Basil, and Yarrow. For pollinators, I am growing marigolds, dwarf zinnias, cosmos, and straw flowers. I 'm still fine tuning my garden plans, and will be starting seed starts for the first of three generations of tomatoes soon. Yellow Heart Winter Choy is fast growing, has good flavor and texture, and will grow in the snow.

  5. I’ve been having the same thoughts lately along the lines of, I have enjoyed the experimenting, but I need to grow more of what I love to eat.

  6. You might want to use flower grower's netting instead of the cattle panels. They're made specially for supporting flowers and such, while the cattle panel is very heavy weight.

  7. I love recycling. If I’m planting in an old kiddie pool as a raised bed, would you recommend cutting the whole bottom out, lots of small holes, or several large holes. I’m thinking larger holes so it’s still got stability, but the water can drain and the roots can reach deeper. Maybe 3-4 inch wide holes every couple inches.

  8. You should look up isons nursery on how to properly prune muscadines and you wouldn't have that mess.

  9. Wow, 5 years already! I remember when you moved in. Thanks for all the helpful videos. Happy holidays!

  10. How beautiful! Really enjoyed this tour. I have two 8’ raised for beds and one has low hoops with insect netting then doubled frost blankets topped with 6 mil greenhouse tarp clipped to frost blankets so when sun is up good I go out and flip the two that are clipped together off to backside and at sunset I go out and flip them back over. Works so well I am amazed!
