  1. 😅😅 I love the The Martian reference. My daughters laugh at me every time I watch it, because of how I react to him growing potatoes in a few inches of soil like that.

I look forward to how your experiment turns out!

  2. I actually have some sweet potatoes that I've been Vining for slips in my grow room. I'd love to see how to take them to the next stage and grow indoors..if possible. I've never grown sweet potatoes (other than the Mason jar school project as a kid)

  3. Love the title and reference and it goes to show that there is no other planet that was designed as perfect for sustaining life. Although we are a microscopic spec in the universe, we are viewed as special, something to take care of and love for a future purpose. (Matthew 6:9,10; Revelation 21:3,4) Interesting info on water and soil. I am thinking that has to do with ion exchange. 🤔👨‍🚀🌞🥔

  4. I remember watching the Discovery channel when it was about technology, many many years ago. A Japanese inventor was featured. He created light fixtures which took sunlight from the rooftop and channeled it down to dome lights inside the home. Almost like a glass dome on the roof, channeled through fat fiber optic, down to a dome below, but I don't remember the actual materials used. He was in the process of finding a way to amplify low light days too. He wanted to sell the idea as a way to light your home with no energy and to grow plants. He was inventing all sorts of things. Obviously the powers that be never allowed this to fruition.

  5. Love the smaller red potatoes and peas in a cream sauce. Have hydroponics but have weeny grow lights, will grow outside in smaller bags. Did real well last year.

  6. Hi Luke, can you tell me, roughly, the proportion of Dolomitic Lime to add to peat moss for (summer) growing tomatoes and not-tomatoes in grow-bags? TIA.

  7. I tried my best Luke outside & inside for both kinds of potatoes !!! Only got 1 potato from each of the potato that I planted !!! I can grow a lot of tomatoes and carrots in side & outside both !!! Radishes are what I grow now inside for Potatoes for myself you can fry boil do all that you want to them like potato !!!

  8. Luke can you grow Japanese Radishes ??? I grow the ones that are red with white in the middle of them !!! But a Neighbor grew her Japanese Radishes they are Long ones root vegs & If she would had lived another year there was going to grow those for winter time for potato for myself then !!! Give them a try the Japanese ones !!!

  9. Lol. Those going to be some expensive taters. I've grown lots indoors, spinach does best for me. How much power do those lights take? I use 8x54w lights on a 5ftx9ft grow table to start my entire garden each year. Just 120 frost free growing days outside so I make the most of it.

  10. Thanks for the watering info; lotta folks don't realize how hydrophobic dry mixes are. Add a TB/gal of Dr. Bronners castile soap–it helps make water wetter. 🧐

  11. Reds are a smaller potato so Imma go with them. Should think about adding Mylar to that wall it will reflect the light much better than the plain white paint.

  12. My question: Cost of energy,, 100-120 days maturity, bag, fertilizer and dirt, divided by number of potatoes produced. I think this would make a great video in April harvest timeframe.

  13. I definitely have the itch to start growing again.. Last year I started peppers in January.. To many plants to take care of… I will do only a handful.. And some more mini tomatoes. They didn't produce earlier so I will have to adjust lighting and fertilizer.

  14. You could compare the dry soil with a new sponge. Try sopping up water with a new dry sponge and it takes a while. Get the sponge wet and wring it out and it soaks up water real good.

  15. I am excited. I currently have 2 types of lettuce, radishes and spinach growing under lights in my house. I have been thinking about adding herbs. Looking forward to the upcoming videos. Thanks!

  16. Hah I never even thought to try potatoes indoors! As a beginner I used to way oversoak my soil and wonder why they told us to do that, it was such a clumpy mess. Nowadays I stir the soil and water together in an old tidy cats bucket, keep the lid closed and it stays perfectly moist. I’m trying not to overwinter anything this year, but I have some dahlia shoots that are begging to survive, so I might cave in and do it….

  17. Try a Minnesota midget melon! I was tempted but stopped myself this year my first winter with a grow tent. I am trying snow peas though only 8 plants with radishes at the base.

  18. I am saying redskin. They always grow well in the grow bags for me. I am glad to see you experiment to. My office has become my winter garden. Shelves and grow lights. I have a bunch of different things growing but at the moment I am just excited to have mini tomatoes that just bloomed.

  19. You can’t actually add Lumens up “If you quadruble the lumens, the light is intensified by a factor of root 4 or twice as much.”

  20. In the book The Martion the soil was only 10 centimeters (~4 inches) deep. I always thought it would need to be deeper in order for the potatoes to stay below ground. Do you know? Could you really get a full crop of healthy potatoes in just 4 inches of soil?

  21. I'd like to see this experiment done with all different varieties. I don't have the resources to grow potatoes indoors myself. My favorite variety is Adirondack Blue.

  22. I am planning on starting some indoor peppers next month, may grab a couple if my 3lb containers and throw some piratoes in. I still have some starters from summer. Thanks for the tips.

  23. I love what you have planned for this series. I look forward to the microgreens, herbs and the salad mixes. Thanks for trying the potatoes. I wouldn't have thought of growing them indoors during the winter.

  24. I would love to see what happens with the lettuce. I am in fact trying to grow your lettuce in your grow bag with your recommended grow lights! It would be great to do it together and compare, getting tips along the way! Also trying spinach and microgreens.

  25. Woketards know nothing…….but the cyberattacks are to come and will mean we are on our own with only books and no power. Keep hold of your books and knowledge because things are about to change and we have been WARNED.

  26. Pretty sure potatoes need cool nights to develop good tubers. Hopefully you can simulate late summer/early fall weather close to harvesting them.

  27. We've grown potatoes over the years, including indoors last year. Our trouble is, we always have nice foliage and flowers, but not always potatoes. Is there something we're doing wrong? Is there a way to tell if potatoes are developing properly, not just the leaves? Having lush green shrubs is nice, but a harvest is better. Thank you for any advice!

  28. I love your idea about the potatoes but whar about carrots indoors? I would love to see if they can be grown indoors to completion.

  29. Love your channel and watch every video. I'm all about total self sufficiency, all videos you do on that I will absorb and share.
Thank you so much for your channel.
