Hey what’s up y’all this is William the permaculture consultant and I wanted to give you guys an update on the abandoned permaculture demonstration site new plan as far as like how like the order of operations and how we’re going to attack this uh but we’ll get into that in a

Second what I want to show you right now is this microclimate up here in the front so you can see that the sun is just about to come over those trees over there if not already over I think there’s like a little hazy Cloud over them and it’s and it’s frozen and it’s

Frosty outside now if if your trees these guys right here and this Swale the Swale on the other side the Swale up there if your trees can warm up with the atmosphere before the direct Sun hits them then you can get away with uh warmer trees trees that are meant for

Warmer climates in your area for example uh like sep hter he grows this was made famous or made Popular by sep hter if he can grow Meer lemons in the Alps because he has the atmosphere the air around the um Myer lemon he can uh he lets the

Atmosphere warm up the tree before he has direct sunlight hit the tree so if you can make a microclimate where like this one um where the atmosphere around the tree warms up before the direct sunlight hits the tree then you can get away with warmer species in your climate

You can also put them on like in the northern hemisphere you can also put your warmer species uh north of the Pond North of any ponds or bodies of water that you have and that’ll create a little microclimate as well that’s what a lot of people do with peaches to

Prevent uh late spring Frost Frost damage on their pedals they just plant them on the north side of a pond and the humidity keeps the blooms and all that stuff safe and protected but that was just a let me show you guys the main point of this video I’m going to get up

Here and uh we’re going to get a better View and I’m going to show you guys the new plan all right so we’re up here on the storage container it’s a little icy and a little slick so I’m going to move a little slow I had my brother-in-law and

Father-in-law out here and uh they came and looked around and got some ideas and here some crunching of the ice under on under my feet um they came out here gave me some ideas kind of took took a look around uh my brother-in-law is really good at making things look aesthetically

Pleasing which I don’t so there’s that but here’s the new plan they both looked at this building right here the building on the other side of it is still going away that’s the one on the ramp but this building right here is in pretty decent shape it just doesn’t look like it right

Now the bones are good basically um so we’re not going to get rid of that instead we’re going to fix this up and we’re going to place it right over there almost where you see my shadow just a little bit above that underneath this tree these trees right here that’s the

The goal is to have it downhill there’s a sale over here it’s going to be on the downhill side over here that’s where we’re going to put the building and the reason for that is because these trees along here are really good at blocking the Western Sun in the summer and if

You’ve ever been in Texas in the summer on the west side of a building that’s a blessing you want to definitely want to block the Western Sun in Texas so that’s where we’re going to put the building uh we were going to put the building way

Back there uh back past the pond but that’s no longer going to be the case because we would have to drop uh you see those little power poles they would have to go down the driveway all the way back over there and then we’d also have to

Run uh City water back there unless we wanted to rely 100% on rainwater catchment and with the as common as the droughts are down here um I don’t want to rely 100% on rainwater catchment down here um so that’s we’re not going with that plan anymore that might be a future

Future future plan but to get the training center up and running as quickly as possible and as as well as possible um we’re going to get the building put over here and this storage container the one I’m standing on this front end right here is going to be

Brought over this way a little bit and then another storage container is going to replace the spot of this house right here and then I’ll have the Texas boys come out here and they’ll put up trusses in between the two shipping containers and this area between will be a little

Drive-thru Barn area where I mean if you have a trailer hooked up if you’re dropping off livestock if you’re trying to put them in a Corral or whatever you’re trying to do you can drive through the barn here and then you can continue on the driveway and continue on

Down the uh property so with this new plan we’re going to be able to get this training center uh up and and running way faster than if we were going to build a brand new building all the way down there I’m relieved and thankful that this building is not in as bad a

Shape as I I thought it would be uh cuz that’s just going to save a ton of time ton of money um and a ton of effort um that that can be directed towards towards other things uh so that’s exciting news the training center I’m hoping and the reason I’m

Saying it on camera so you guys can hold me accountable I am hoping to have this training center the goal is to have this training center up and running this year that is my goal I want this up and running and people staying out here and practicing and homesteading and all that

Stuff I want that to be done this year um and I would like to be teaching classes out here within 3 months at the very very latest 3 months um there are classes that I could show out here somebody was saying like uh they wanted

To see a class on the on or they wanted to come to a class on clearing um if yeah there ain’t much to it other than other than just getting to it there ain’t much to clearing if you’re not using animals and stuff um I probably won’t teach that class but there are

Other classes like I’m showing you guys over here let me get down and I’ll show you Guys one thing I really really need to get done before Spring starts is uh getting this Garden squared away over here now the clearing part I can obviously do you know just by myself and get that done but I want to teach a class on how to prepare your raised beds

Uh for the upcoming you know summer for growing season and stuff like that well there’s the gate that you saw earlier but here is the Garden area and it’s severely overgrown but you can kind of see between here you can kind of see that raised bed right there it’s

Overgrown it has bah grass that has trees growing out of it has all this Ragweed growing out of it stuff like that but I would love to show you guys that you can take something like that and put it in pretty good production the same year that it doesn’t require it’s

Very very simple solution Solutions it’s not hard it’s not difficult requires a little bit of Labor and then you’re there’s it’s largely a list of things not to do Don’t Spray don’t compact don’t till don’t do things like that and all you have to do is add cardboard and

Mulch there there’s the whole class there’s the whole class right there um but seriously if there’s any classes or anything like that you guys want to see or any questions you guys have or if you need a consultation or anything like that contact me down below all my links

Are down below you can contact me through the comment section as well but I want to thank you guys so much for for the people that have reached out so far thank you guys so much there’s a bunch of great bartering opportunities that I’m definitely going to take everybody

Up on um I do accept I do accept silver I do accept gold and I do accept bartering just in case just in case that wasn’t clear um but yeah thank you guys so much for watching and until next time we’ll see you

  1. Are you going to do any processing classes? Pigs, beef, goats. I am interested in the prep on raised beds.
And I'm not to far away. We have six and a half acres on the west side of Cedar Creek Lake between Kemp and Scurry.

  2. Out of curiosity could you give me a ballpark estimate on what a consultation cost? We have 11 acres of very hilly land with a small creek running through it and we’re in Ohio.

  3. I live in michigan right along lake michigan the effect of water has me in the same growing zone has kentucky.

  4. Is there anyway you can do anything with a Fellow YouTube Creator out of Austin called Matt Risinger and his Build Show? I think he could learn a lot from Permaculture & Key Line Design. Whilst his interest in Building Science might help you. He might also help grow your channel!!

  5. I assume you know Richard Perkins YouTube channel? He uses Yurts for his Teaching Spaces.
He also has a trilogy of books on commercial permaculture.
Now his context is in many ways the reverse of yours given he is in sweden.

Can I also point you towards a channel Permaculture Namibia
Whose context is far harder in terms of rainfall, but he is still working hard creating & developing tools to work with his context

Also don't forget that the Oxford Real Farming Conference is on in the next few weeks. It is a hive of permaculture & they are recording sessions & uploading them to YouTube.

  6. Very exciting! You'll be great at teaching. I hope you'll check out our latest video and see your consultation in action! We've come a long way since you created our plan. If anyone is thinking about hiring William, DO IT! You won't regret it 😁

  7. Great video. Back in TN for a while, getting things done. Ordered supplies for repairing and improving the area, should be delivered tomorrow unless this storm front becomes an issue. Can't wait for future videos, you have done so much already. Following you will keep me in check too. God Bless from TN

  8. I have quite a few patches of Poison Hemlock popping up where my goats have eaten back blackberry brambles. Instead of spraying the hemlock. what would be the best practice to get rid of the hemlock?
