  1. How cool I wasn’t expecting them to be that clean heck yes !! I know your proud I would be so hyped . 😁

So Dipper gourds are a unique variety to check out. I’m sure you can find seeds but if not I have thousands++ ! I could definitely mail some to the shop . When the gourds dry we made scoopers for our animal feed . But you can also make bowls . My memory might be off but I believe the Indians used them. I think there my favorite gourds besides the luffas .

Thank you for sharing this with us .

  2. I'm interested to see if it will germinate. I think a few of them will. It was amazing seeing the giant crimson tomato get revived. I hope this becomes a trend because it will really help with biodiversity.

  3. Guess I'm the first to notice your math is wrong. if you germinate 10 seeds and 8 sprout that's 80%, if you start 100 seeds and 82 sprout that's 82% With a thousand seeds you get 825 to sprout you will have 82.5%. You will never get half a seed to sprout.

  4. 25 seeds and yes at least 1 will germinate. I have an apple gourd I grew and decorated 20+ years ago… now I want to see if the seeds inside will sprout.

  5. I think they will germinate. I expect about 50 seeds. Hope you will use a drill.
Oh no you hit it with a hammer. OH, WOW, I feel servant with a guess of 50!!
I have heard of grain seeds taken from an Egyptian pyramid which germinated so I expect these will germinate as well.

  6. Luke never fails to make me smile.

“Look how clean those seeds are!” immediately touches them barehanded before realizing. “Oh-!”

  7. Cool experiment. How do you know for sure it's 60 years old though? Did it have a date on it? I have 0 experience with antiques. Looking forward to seeing how many germinate.

  8. I guessed 42 seeds and then immediately thought that was way too high of a guess. Turns out, not high enough!

  9. I'm a little surprised you zipped the baggy shut; I thought a bit of air circulation would be preferable (= less chance for mold?). 🤷‍♀️

  10. Cool to see you trying old seed again. I got inspired by the giant crimson to try some seeds from an old collection. I tried a handful of varieties and was happy to get the one I really wanted labeled as Peru 499388 and it grew into a nice 4’ plant with hundreds of pods. Not as old as you’ve tried at around 12 yrs but Probably can’t find this anywhere being it just a number. Of course I saved seeds and overwintering it too.

  11. I’m so excited to watch these grow, I grow gourds, make crafts, bird feeders etc. I think they will grow and I think 12
