We completed this garden a few years ago and the design principles are still sound. Wide steps mirror the length of the glazed opening and deflect attention away from the difference between the floor height indoors and the garden level, whilst also defining the separate terraces. The garden backs onto the very tall main stand at Lord’s cricket ground and using evergreen forms, including a row of Magnolia grandiflora, together with the statue and sculpture plinths from #ateliervierkant creates focal points that keep the eye looking into the garden (rather than at the stand).
