What was your first houseplant?
.
.
If you’re new to gardening indoors, or just want an easy-care plant, snake plants (Sansevieria spp.) are a great choice.
.
Because Sansevieria is a succulent, its leaves are thick in order to store water, much like a cactus. Plants only need watering once every week or two, or whenever the soil feels dry.
.
Don’t place in direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. An east- or west-facing window is optimal. Snake plants can tolerate long periods of neglect without complaint. They’re also great for indoor air purification!
