Older leaves *WILL* make their exit – it’s inevitable. Leaves, like skin cells, have a turnover rate. The difference is perception: you don’t notice your old skin falling off but you’re taught to panic over leaf loss.
.
Your “skin” is composed of entirely new cells approximately once a month, which is great because it acts as a protective barrier for your body. Leaves act to collect light, exchange gases/water, and excrete waste products. They can do their job without looking “nice” for you.
.
2️⃣ Part of the beauty of this plant (Thaumatophyllum sp.) is its long trunk, which shows the scars of leaves past. Again, a difference in perception: after seeing this, how can you act as if losing older leaves is an exception rather the norm? I’m not saying ignore your plant, I’m saying (again and again): understand your environmental conditions, try your best with care, and let Nature take its course. This is how you can expand your appreciation for plants.
