GROWING TEN LARGER-SIZED EDIBLE PLANTS ON A SMALL URBAN PATIO

Testing the limits of this concrete patio by growing vegetables and fruit that may not always be the first choice for a small space.

The objectives of this exercise are simple:

1. Learn more about how different plants behave and grow (in the hope that one day, we might get a slightly bigger plot to grow food).
2. Be amazed.
3. Have a bit of fun 😀

The ten larger-sized edibled plants we have this summer are:

1. Butternut pumpkin
2. Sweet corn
3. Sugar bany watermelon
4. Eggplant
5. Maori potatoes (also called taewa or riwai)
6. Sweet potatoes (also called kumara)
7. Dwarf raspberry (mini me)
8. Blueberries (Rabbit eye varieties)
9. Lebanese cucumber (or beit alpha)
10. Climbing beans (Beans America, an heirlom seed from Koanga Gardens)

  1. Always more fun to do gardening with a buddy around, provided they don't sit on your seedlings 😊
