Let’s talk a little bit about something that in five years of Van life I wish I had and I wish I had sooner too it’s not even comparable this this was impressive wow so we’re walking down this snowy Road Al Le and I are up here in the mountains just enjoying the

Snow partway down this road has the perfect example for what this tool is Handy for in 5 years of Van life and I have never bought a saw we came across multiple Fallen trees which forced us to stay someplace we didn’t necessarily want to stay and I didn’t buy a saw cuz I

Honestly didn’t want to carry around a chainsaw with a bunch of a bunch of oil and extra gasoline and all of the parts that go into maintaining a chainsaw are we worse for wear for it probably not if you have someone in your life right now that lives life or is

Going to you’re racking your brain trying to figure out what to buy them think about a saw now the saw that I’d recommend and I’ve used these before too is Silky they make they’re a Japanese company they make amazing pull saws what a pull saw

Is is it cuts on the pull not on the push it doesn’t take a lot of pressure to be able to do this that was actually really quick had you been hacking at this with a freaking Hatchet or some other non-power tool it’s not even comparable this this was

Impressive wow so that’s the first time I’ve ever actually cut with this one with this big one now they make different sizes of these and I honestly think that the big one’s the way to go if you’re in Van life the reason being is you’re going to you’re

Going to come across trees trees that are probably bigger than this however every tree that’s been falling across the road that’s turn his back has been about this big and it’s also kind of really important to note that these silky saws they can fold out and then they can

Hyp extend too I don’t know when so that when you’re song You’re flatter there’s my two cents the silky big boy I would highly recommend getting this for any vanifer or if you are a vanifer consider getting it because honestly this is a whole lot smaller and a whole lot lighter than

Carrying around a chainsaw and honestly it kicked butt like this that was pretty quick I’m going to drag this back to camp and we’re going to have a fire tonight now we’re up here right now holding down the fort for friends give Miss A annual Christmas party we throw uh there’s

The video will be up here but I’m going to end up making something really cool with that with the silky saw so go ahead and keep watching we’ll put that footage in here that is also going to be in that other video but it pertains to the silky

Saw so I guess it’s going to be in both places all right this was Kodiak with the Noco Nomads a little shorter video today but that’s fine and uh Going to put their hand down and be Like I have your eyes to get me yeah I know to get me Me let’s see what dragon you Bond I’ll do it it’s right there you just Ste on

  1. I love my Silky saws. I have a Big Boy and a Pocket Boy, both have seen some pretty good use, and I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a saw on a budget, or for pack carry.

  2. Take a look at Corona saws, they're well regarded by arborists and less $$$ than Silky. Project Farm tested folding saws(including Silky), and Corona came out on top.

The over-extend folding feature is so you can cut a piece of wood that's on the ground, without the handle having to be on the ground as well and injuring yourself.

I have a Katanaboy, and while it's fantastic, if I'm going somewhere I might need a saw, I do find myself tossing a battery electric chainsaw in the vehicle before I grab the Katanaboy. I've cut a couple 2ft diameter logs with the Katanaboy, but my battery electric chainsaw will do so in a tiny fraction of the time.

  3. Ok so let me teach y'all something. My big boy 300 is great. The blade on my manual pole saw is pretty much the same blade is on the silky. They cut exactly the same. Silky blade is $50 for a replacement, pole saw is $15. I just fabricated a handle out of instamold but wood or a 3d printed handle will work. It doesn't fold but $15 and 5 mins of tinkering was equal to a silky
