What can I do to make a lid for this size tank or is it possible to even do so?

The measurement is 20x18x31 as listed in the seller’s description. It’s a pretty big tank and l’d appreciate if someone could help me come up with a lid idea. I’ll be having snails and isopods in the ‘terrarium’ so l definitely don’t want the little guys escaping!

Go to any hardware store and buy plexiglass and have them cut to size. I’ve replaced tank tops with this and they look great. Last time I got a plexi lid cut, the guy was nice enough to cut out a feeding/lifting hole and a notch on the edge for the tank cables. And I only paid 14 dollars.

  2. Glass is pretty inexpensive and making straight cuts isn’t too hard with even an inexpensive glass cutter. I’ve been warned by shops selling Plexi that it can bow and yellow. I’d measure the size needed to halve it and use two pieces to cover it.

I use PolyCarbonate panels from Lowes, cut to size for all of mine. Problem is you have to cut it yourself, unlike the store cutting glass for you.

It’s plastic used for greenhouses, so it works really well

Bear in mind that isopods typically need good cross-ventilation, so they can suffocate quickly in sealed terrariums unless there are plenty of established plants producing oxygen. Also, rather than urinating, isopods excrete ammonia in gas form, which can displace oxygen in low-lying spaces without ventilation. I’ve seen plenty of anecdotal accounts of closed terrarium isopods working out though, so look around for tips!
