Jarrariums

My jar is starting to settle out. Light cycle plus shrimp/plants are beating the algae. Now has heat!

The vase has cleaned up a ton in only two weeks. I'm shocked at the growth of cardinalis. It's growing much more rapidly than my Bacopa, but I think the Bacopa is just starting to bounce back after being in the dark too long. Almost all the algae is gone and the shrimp are looking happy. Nothing is eating the quarter algae wafer I throw in there every two weeks.

I have a similar jar and I will never attempt something like that!
I’d end up with a slimy stinky jar of green pudding, for sure.

    Bravo!

Thank you! I thought this would as well, but it did surprisingly well! I put potting soil in the bottom and layered over it with fluorite. Stacked stones and planted the buce emersed. After a week or so, I filled the rest of the tank and planted pretty much everything else. My little light stays on for 4 hours, has a 2-hour break, and then an additional 4 hours. I think that is key. It got slimy for a moment and then it just started cutting back on its own. I added a couple of cherry shrimp and it’s been absolutely incredible. I wish I had been doing planted tanks like this my whole life instead of fooling around with high tech setups. It’s actually got me itching to try the same setup with a larger tank.
