Hey Girl, π€ i know your struggles all too well. Thank you for sharing.
I also love Richter's! Im excited to take a trip down in May as well. Yes, it will be a date day for us as well.
I hope your dogs can deter the cats. β€
Will you staying in your area?
You do what is best for you !! β€β€π
I am right there with you girlfriend! My entire household deals with depression. The only hope I have is if we both don't have bad days on the same day. But we deal with it even if we do. Because we always know it's only temporary. On a bad day for me, I try to spend time in the garden, or pull something from the freezer and shove it in the canner! Those are my happy places, and I always feel great pulling a finished product from the canner. Try sprinkling some ground red pepper on the pots. No idea if this is bad for the plants, but cats don't like it. You need to do what make you happy, and that is all you need to worry about. Big hugs you to and your family.
Lynn, Richter' is awesome. But from experience, I would suggest you go sooner than you think. If you want the widest selection you should go on or before Mother's Day. They can get wiped out on Mother's Day and Victoria Day. As for the cats, get some plastic take-out forks. Stick the handle end down in the soil so the tines are pointing upward. The cats won't be able to find space to do their business. Lynn, you're not alone. Life can be overwhelming and burnout is a real thing. Anny has been admitting the same thing, and my garden last year was awful. I had a health problem that got in the way and it was heartbreaking. I have my hopes up for a brighter year this time around. Sending hugs.
I know having kids is hard especially when they have extra struggles. Iβm going to be praying for you Lynn! I loved seeing your excitement with the sunshine and the garden! So true it is like therapy!
Lynn thanks for being so open with us. Thereβs nothing wrong with using starts from the nurseries or picking up food from local farms. Youβre supporting your local community. The bottom line is to get some good food at the peak of the season. You have to do what is best for you and your family.
I had neural divergent children too. I had those days that I cried as well because I just didn't know how to help them, protect them, and do it again tomorrow sometimes felt impossible. Mine are grown and on their own now and doing fantastic so know that you are the best mom for them. Eventually they will be on their own
Your excitement and lovely smile is so contagious!! β€
Also I wanted to mention: what a beautiful gift you and David are giving to your children by working together and showing them a loving relationship.
I admire your vulnerability
Lynn! π€. Supporting local greenhouses, nurseries, farms and marketβs is so important. Thank you for supporting local. π₯° Please know youβre never alone.
Lyn
I am sending you lots of hugs and love thanks for sharing
Have you tried cayenne pepper on your beds?we have squirrels and rabbits who think we're running a buffet .I am trying several methods to protect my garden . God's got this blessing s always β€οΈ
I wish you a wonderful 2024 season and a lot of happy moments. Can't wait to see what you will find at Ritchers!
we ignore the frost dates here. we don't plant outside until second week of june no matter what the almanac says
Hugs Lynn, I never understood why people judge what others do so hard. No shame in not starting plants inside, or winter sowing. You buying starts help others out. We can't do it all, we might want to but truth is there is no shame in doing what works for you. I have wanted to start a garden for the last few years, truth is my oldest daughters death has been a lot to handle, don't get me wrong my daughter ran right to the arms of God and is on the best adventure but I miss her, she was 40. I have had anxiety for as far back as I can remember, back then there was no name for it, I have a very hard time leaving the house, the thought of leaving the house makes me feel like people are crawling on me, and some days I get physically sick at the thought. But I make myself leave the house. So your plans sounds great to me. I am going to try for a garden this year and if it happens it happens if it don't I will hit farmers markets. Hugs to you. Lets face it our hearts break for our children when they struggle and that is a stress, as Mom's we want to fix everything for our children and it wears on us when we can't. I have heard that if you put chicken wire on your garden containters cats stay out of it but I never tried that. Blessings and prayers Lynn, you will rock this garden season.
Lynn, i appreciate you sharing. You will help many people know they are not alone in their struggles. You do what works for you! There is no shame on buying from the stores. It is sad that we think that we have to do it all.
I have an autistic 6 yr old grandson that lives with me and often think what have you experienced with your daughter so she is at the place she is now.
Love and light π
Hello ππ» Lynn looking forward to the next installment of Aidenβs introπ. We had snow βοΈ here today and the last few days were lots of rain and cold π₯Ά. Next week will be in the upper 60βsβ crazy weather but looking forward to getting outside and fixing up the garden beds! My garlic is coming along nicely but Iβm still keeping it covered with straw for a while longer. Iβm excited for harvest season cause itβs the first year I planted garlic π§. Great work today and no worries youβre supporting small business. I do that too- we canβt do everything ourselves- right!πβ€
Lynn are you direct sowing sunflower seeds in the ground or starting them in the house?
It's good to share, we're here with you! In September I met my goal of home ownership but quickly after moving I got sick. I had no energy from that point on and I thought it was seasonal depression. But that usually lifts mid Feb and I was getting worse not better. I finally put it all together that I may be iron deficient. I had to beg my Dr for tests and it showed I WAS low on 6 different markers. She said it was normal but I was low in iron. What a contradiction! I've started special iron supplements that my body will absorb and am starting to feel better. All this to say I decided to pause my channel for a bit because laundry and dishes are more importantπ you've got to do what you can to keep going! πππ
I am happy you got to go outside! It looked like a great day! We just spent time getting our gardens ready for planting and there is nothing better! Well, except for maybe harvesting! π Blessings on your garden!
I love my garden and itβs good therapy for me too but I definitely get overwhelmed sometimes because of physical limitations. I try to be thankful for whatever harvest I do get enjoy the beauty of watching what God can do with a little seed. We donβt expect you to be perfect. Take care and God Bless.
