The top died off and this bit of stem was left. I've had it like this in soil for about 2 months now. The rhizome has put out that bottom root since then.
I'm just perplexed on where/how new growth would come in on this? Or is this some kind of zombie rhizome situation 🧟♀️

If it continues to root it will eventually sprout a stem. This could take over a year. Ensure your pot is small so that the root system can establish timely.
