Plant Propagation

Is water the best way to propagate?

Is a cutting of water in water best way? Or should I use rooting hormone and put in soil?

BTW if anyone has a plant id would be great. I got this as a gift.

I’ve seen frequently that plants that aren’t “wood like” will root faster when in water compared to that of soil. I’ve seen other information that supports this, but also says that soil starting has a higher success chance, despite not being as fast. Is this because people aren’t changing from water to soil before rotting takes place? I don’t know.

A third method that seems to be very successful (but is typically on par with soil in terms of speed) is “air layering”. The concept is very sound, but I have yet to test it. This is something I see more in “wood like” and “semi wood like” plants though. I don’t know how it would work with plants that aren’t “wood like”.
