for
hopefully you guys hear me today I don’t
know what happened to the audio on my
last live
but
okay let me get these guys secure
I don’t
trust the Hawks that are constantly in
my
backyard I had to give these guys fresh
War all right come
on what am I doing
here all right I need y’all to go inside
come on come on this way come
on come on come on come
on a please knock it off come on go go
go all
right got that taken
care
[Music]
so today I plan on
planting hey look my squash is plant
growing or
sprouting anyways today I’m planting my
green beans in the
garden along
with some
lettuce
and
got to make sure everything is has
enough water in
here cucumbers looking
good tomatoes looking good marago
looking great cilantro
Peppers
but
let’s let’s take this
guy which has two in
[Music]
[Music]
it
[Music]
okay now I’m hands free let’s
get
so if you’re new here my name is Tim and
then here is my backyard garden it is
18 3×6 raised beds as well as I
have five 1×6 beds plus these metal bins
and a number of grow bags that
I grow vegetables and fruit in so today
I’m just going to be
moving some things out of the greenhouse
that I believe is ready to go in the
garden now that we have a lot more
um the evenings are a lot
warmer
so today I plan on planting some green
beans and
I’m probably going to plant
some lettuce in this bed
here so before I can do that I just want
to make sure I
have my rows made and I’m doing three
rows of green beans I’m think I’m just
going to do
six making a total of 18 plants that
I’ll put in
here
and they should be bush
beans but I’ve been full a couple of
times where they’ve
been I would call uh I guess they’re
pole beans so real quick just going to
make this trench
here
w oh great still dealing with sticks in
my
garden
[Music]
okay
okay
question I want to put it in this bed
probably
so more freaking
sticks ah
I only have myself to blame for
this if I can give you any advice don’t
ever make this
mistake in your
garden
it’s like never
ending the positive is I have a bunch of
firewood once it dries out
out
okay
breake what were you going to plant in
that bed
peppers
so everything I want to start from se’s
is is
done I don’t need
to start any more
plants with the exception of
maybe
lettuce I just want to be able to
harvest and secession
plant
so always
one what’s crazy is I got a woods behind
my house that I could have easily
gotten leaves pine
straw dead branches left and
right but I didn’t want to walk that far
and I wanted to use tree that have
fallen from a
storm and I should have known
better there were
signs they told me not to do that but I
didn’t
listen
okay I feel pretty good about that
now let me get my bone Mill
now
[Applause]
[Music]
h
so this here is
um this is green beans and again this
should be bush beans that I grew from
seeds that I saved last
year for my garden
[Music]
and I
do direct soil my bean Seas sometimes
but most time I start them that
way cuz then I can make sure I know
exactly what I
have or know what what exactly I’m
growing
okay
and all I’m going to do is
do guess what six in each row give me a
total of 18 and then I’ll probably just
pop these guys up put them out see if
anybody wants them since I’m not going
to do another bed of green
beans at least for right
now let me find my garden
Spade boom
this thing is falling apart need a new
one I feel
it so let’s do this
here that’ll
work
one two three four five
six
okay put these guys
here they should be really easy to come
out
see very
healthy I’m going do is just
boom not doing anything
fancy
try to move this closer
here
for
I don’t this ever happens to anybody but
I always
lose where I put my guarding tool last
okay so one two 3 four
five
six all
right
[Music]
for
[Music]
six
more let’s
go
one
two
there’s my
six
okay
beings are planted roughly a foot
apart and all I’m going to do is
just cover
them make sure they’re
happy to use the other
piece
for
let
get out of
here
okay it’s going to be the death of
me
okay I’m going
to pot these
up and set them out
tomorrow for anyone that’s
interested
okay on to the next bed here I think
this is the one I want to
use as you can
see eating green beans
so
I’m super excited cuz
my new camera m comes in that I plan on
using on the boat I I’m hoping this is
going
to give me some incredible shots that
I’ve not been able
to take advantage of
before
okay one two three four
five questions do you want to do five or
four so here I’m using
my this is what I use to make my
homes evenly in a row especially when
I’m using
the when I’m taking plants that I have
in my 128 cell
tray it just makes it easy to PLP them
in and just be
symmetrical rather than
it freeze sty like I did the green
beans and then I know exactly how many
I’m
planting
again for the most part it just makes it
easy and keeps things in
line so usually what I do is I try to
put six or seven in here but I think I’m
just going to do
five just to make it
easy
five rows I
mean always start with my
middle I bump it up against this
here slightly against the edge of the
bed and then one in the middle
[Music]
here
I do the same thing
here so with five rows I’ll be able to
grow
60 heads of
lettuce and all I’m doing is Romain
lettuce
for right now at least so let going go
grab
them
so these again are lettuce that I grew
from seeds that I
saved from my garden last
year
and I did pot them up so that I didn’t
waste
any
cuz normally I would just cut cut them
to thin them out but I didn’t want to do
that there was just too
many too
many so now I’m just going to add my
bone
Mill every
[Applause]
hole doesn’t have to be perfect
this just promotes healthy
roots
so now I’m just going to get to work
here
so in each one of these four packs there
are two that I put in
here and they’re
happy
so see how long this is going to take me
to do
this
Spade
[Music]
I’m missing
something that I do like to use to make
my holes in my garden let me go grab
it
this guy
here that just allows me to just make
the the hole a little bit fmer firmer
firmer
what’s crazy is again I got
like
three maybe even four trays
of lettuce some with three in them so I
have a lot of lettuce I just got to get
rid
of
oh
snap that one bombs
away
okay this
side
plot
doing my best to separate these here
again they’ll be
okay they will be
okay
for
these chickens are constantly
fighting I’m also trying to be very
careful try to take these out too cuz I
don’t want them
to I don’t do that plus I don’t want to
tear
the cells
up cuz I can reuse
them if I pull it
carefully come on come on on there we
go if you’re new to gardening and you
just want to try your hands at
something lettuce by far is going to be
the easiest thing you can
do I made videos about
growing
hydroponically
indoor you just got to make sure you
have nutrients in your Water and Light
Source again super easy doesn’t take up
much
space and with lettuce you can always
just Harvest
it by completely cutting the
plant
or just clipping
the the leaves based on what you need at
the
time
like next to harvesting this is probably
my favorite part about gardening is
just once your plants are big enough
being able to put them in the ground and
then watch those things
grow
probably I should go in
order
somebody’s out of the
way I that
much
so last year I only at 12 of these
raised
beds
and what I did was just move them a
little bit closer
together
doesn’t give you much room
to to negotiate with but it allowed me
to add
what six more raised beds in
[Music]
here and for someone like me where I
just like to grow random things
and this works better
and if you grow
vertically you’re really not to worry
about
anything so I plan on doing that this
year with my tomatoes my zucchini
squash I may even try with my
peppers
here let’s back
here
okay
well
okay let tiny
one
for
so like I said I’m hopefully be able to
go live more
frequently as my schedule allows me
to this includes not just live in the
garden but also I want to go
live on the boat while on the
water and just share with you what I get
to experience
coming up short
here one two three four so I need oh
there am I
aive I
have just
enough
those gu’s a little weak
anyways
okay
that
[Music]
okay let me clean my hands off here
[Music]
okay
[Music]
all right so before I sign
off turn this bad boy
around okay
so I just planted some green beans
there and
then some roma
lettuce and what I want to be able to
show you
you is just what I have growing so far
in the
garden before I end this
live
so up first here is red potatoes that I
bought locally for my Farmer
Supply as these continue to grow I’ll
layer it with more soil basically just
Mount them and hopefully we have better
production than I did
at the end of last season and this is
the second grow bag that I have of the
same red
potatoes this
here has a variety of
sunflowers these bags are empty but I
plan on putting some uh sweet potatoes
in
there and then the empty bins here will
be a variety of flowers zenas
marago Wild flowers just again to
promote
pollinators again all these five beds
here
are garlic that I
grew some more
sunflowers sugar snap
peas this here
is Danforth
carrots I did plant season this bed here
of wild flowers
these two back grow bags here
are they’re called Baby beets so
there’ll be a small variety of beets
that I’m
growing more
sunflower and then on the back end this
is
mint
that I just cut back and now it’s
thriving as some fresh soil some
fertilizer in this bad boy starting to
pop and then over
here
celery this is my white onions that is
growing
corn sweet
corn and this is a bed of nothing but
basil oh and last but not least I
forgot this bed here is going to
be dedicated to nothing but herbs so I
probably plan a little more basil in
here along with the Rosemary deal that I
have
growing I’ll probably pick up some
time but this will be just
my uh my my herb bed and then I also
have Sal launcher that I
grew so everything’s starting to come
along in the garden
there’s
still a lot of beds that have to be
filled one thing I want to point out is
so I have tomato cages that I’ve used I
also
have uh tomato steaks that I’ve used and
they’ve worked but I’m trying some a
little bit
different help with trellising some of
the plants so I just had
some 2 by two lying
around and what I did is mount it to the
rais bed
here with some decking screws and I
bought these eyelet
Rings
screws that I mounted at the top and
then all I’m going to do is take some
like Garden twine and I bought some
clips that I’ll be able to attach to the
plant and hopefully
secure the plant this will be like my
cucumbers my tomatoes and then I do have
some metal trellis that I’ll probably
use for like some of my cantaloupes and
I’m growing
lofas so these back three beds here so
this one and that one this one will be
for my
tomatoes and all I have to do is just
add
some a little bit of soil to get them
ready but pretty much I’ll be
done with the spring summer garden and
in a month or so this thing’s going to
be really
green and this will be
empty but as you can see like I said I
have tons of lettuce so I’m just going
to put these out see if anybody want to
buy them or take
them donations accepted if they want
to again I have what’s crazy I have this
basil here
that started to grow well I plant all at
the same time but it’s really small get
my cilantro marag gos some more
marles don’t know what happened here
but less than 50% of them
sprouted Zen is looking really nice
eucalyptus again cucumbers are starting
to
pop my okra is looking
good and then this is the last of the
bit of plants this is my my squash is
starting to sprout and
and this is cantaloupe lofa right
here
but all right well I’m signing
