Plant Propagation

Rubber plant + monstera qs

helllo hello!
I propagated this rubber plant cutting and it looks fine to me but slightly unsure since it leans over to one side.
I also propagated this monstera cutting (pic 2 and after!) and I’m a little confused about what to do with the long as heck aerial root. Like should I chop it off?! It definitely does not look right atm.. lol.
Thanks fellow plant lovers 🫶🏼

For the rubber plant leaning is fine. It just needs a sunny window, water topped off, and end of stem in water. Know that rubber trees can take a couple months to root. As long as the cutting looks healthy it’s normal. Do check the stem and ensure it isn’t smushy or foul smelling (that could indicate rot).

I have only propogated rubber trees with cuttings half this size before, i.e. if you cut the stem and just had the top maybe 4 leaves. I’ve had great luck. It’s possible your cutting will do perfectly, but if not it could be that the stem is too woody when you cut it vs. green new growth that roots easier closer to the top (aka top cutting). I just personally don’t know because I’ve never tried a cutting that far down. You could post on r/ficus if you’re curious.

Ask for the other ficus friends: is the spot where OP cut okay?
