Here is a never never plant I rescued for a cat owner who kept knocking it over and chewing at it, I've removed some foliage since I've had it just dead/rotten stuff because it had also been overwatered leaving mold to grown on the top of the soil.

Photo 3 is it possible to propagate this part of the roots without leaves if I where to remove it and put it in to a moss prop box or does this part look like it should be removed and discarded they looked worse than this 2 weeks ago it's since received a chop back and soil change, would this lead to results or would I just be wasting my time?
Any advice towards the care of this plant would be appreciated I've done some reading and have a general idea but doesn't he hurt to know more or get a better understanding.
