Plant Propagation

It snapped while I was trying to stake it. Can I put it in water as is or do I have to take off some bottom leaves? I’m hoping I don’t have to. 🤞

Personally, I would cut this into at least two, as having too much foliage to support is stressful for propagations and those don’t always make it. I don’t think you’ll need to remove any extra leaves though, as these produce roots right off the stem. However, you’ll want to be sure to remove all of the dead parts currently on the stem, as those will rot in the water and could affect the healthy plant. I’d also remove the one leaf where the base of the petiole is turning yellow It’s going to die soon, so it would be best to not let it sap any energy from the cutting. Don’t worry! It’s probably for the better that it snapped off. You’ll now be able to get a bushier plant, and plants thrive on pruning, so it’ll grow back stronger.

+1 , cut in 2 or 3, these propagate BEAUTIFULLY You will actually love watching them. All you need is nodes the brown bumpy parts.
