Florida Garden Projects ||| Front Porch Container Gardening Ideas & Inspiration πŸ€—

It’s been a bustling week here in my North Florida garden as I’ve kicked off the homestead vegetable garden season! To keep things tidy and protect my delicate herbs and peppers, I’ve installed a raised garden bed, doubling as a protective border from little wandering feet.

A trip to my local nursery was a jackpot – snagged some ‘Dusty Miller’ four-packs at a steal and couldn’t resist adding a flat of vibrant petunias to spruce up the front porch.

Now, let’s talk ‘Dusty Miller’ – a sun-loving annual with striking blue-gray foliage, perfectly complementing the purple petal palette of the petunias.

Prepping the soil was a breeze – added a mix of compost and sand into mounds, perfect for planting watermelon seeds, with zinnia seeds sprinkled on top for a burst of shade and color. Last season’s watermelon and wildflower patch was a true showstopper, buzzing with life from late spring till frost, thanks to the ever-reliable zinnias.

For fellow garden enthusiasts, I highly recommend checking out Eden Brothers for a stunning array of zinnia seeds – their quick delivery and excellent germination rate never disappoint!

As for crop rotation, I’ve made a conscious effort to relocate my watermelon patch this year, eager to delve deeper into this technique. If you’ve got any crop rotation tips, drop them in the comments below – I’m all ears for learning and sharing with you all!

And hey, if you’re eyeing a sturdy raised garden bed like mine in my last video, Vegega’s got you covered. Use code ‘BROADWAY’ for a sweet deal on your own piece of gardening bliss!
