Redoing a satin pothos

I adopted this girl today for $5 and while I absolutely adore her leaves and coloring, I can tell she’s a little older and starting to vine, which I don’t want. She appears to be very healthy, but I want to take her apart, change out her soil for something more nutrient rich, and most importantly, cut her down and repot her cuttings so she will grow bushy. I did this with a jade pothos vine that I let grow for a year but I propped those cuttings in water and it was a huge success. This one, I really want to try with rooting hormone directly in soil. I’ve only tried that method with tradescantia but was very successful. Everything I see on the web says that you can do either with pothos (although technically this isn’t a pothos, it’s a scindapsus) as long as you pick one medium and stick to it.

Any feedback or suggestions? I admit I’m a little nervous because I had one of these a few years ago and killed it because I watered it too often. I really love this one because of the size of the leaves.

Thanks in advance!!!!
