just checking out what is growing in my backyard here in early May in Minnesota these sedges are starting to flower and some are going to seed the seeds are an important food supply for a lot of different birds the sedges are also an important host plant for a lot of caterpillar species some of which are in danger due to habitat loss over here we have some golden Alexander which are pretty close to starting to flower same with this Coline right behind it a source of nectar for hummingbirds and bumblebees here’s some uh zigzag Golden Rod further back this is an important nectar source for pollinators in the late summer one of the best ways that you can support the environment is to grow plants that are native to where you live click like if you agree
