then we’ll come back and add the proper amount of mulch which is 4 in now we put down a lot when we started that’s what I keep telling you it breaks down much faster than you think I never said I didn’t weed I just said I didn’t like to weed since this is a pretty invasive grass I would not put this in your compost pile or just drop it on your garden go ahead and remove it out of your garden our little container is 6 in now we know we’ve got 6 in of mulch let me get a couple more in here your mulch will tell you when it’s starting to get thin and this really only occurs in the newest part of the garden

  1. That looks like Bermuda grass. The appropriate place to dispose of Bermuda grass is in the fireplace.

  2. Most mulches will compact by 1/2 after being laid down so whatever your desired thickness is you lay down double. For new areas being mulched for the first time 4in is optimal for smothering out weeds so the first application before settling/ compaction should be 8in
