good morning welcome to gay Bonsai it’s the uh 14th of April 2024 uh today I’m going to just do a little bit of work on this uh Japanese maple I started this in uh February so I’ve made a couple of videos on it where it’s a 2-year-old um seedling tree I grew myself so what I did was pop it into this little blue Bonsai part and I put some water on the trunk and um then about a month ago I cut the growing tips out here and here to um encode some back budding and it’s back budded really nicely so I’m quite pleased with that right I’ll start with the wire I’ll use some very fine copper wire on this little Branch here so carefully unwire that and hopefully it’s h into position [Music] there so I’m quite pleased with how this has worked out so what I’m going to do for next year is definitely um start quite a few more off in the smaller Bonsai parts and then I hopefully I’ve got some larger ones I’ll have to get into sea trays and then what I can do do is get those um so they thicken the trunks up a bit more obviously the size of the pot uh dictates the size and the rate of growth of the tree as this is in quite a small pot it’s going to be quite slow grow sort of from now on but that’s um that’s what I wanted for this one so I should keep it in this similar size Bonsai part and then we’ll try carefully I don’t think I’m going to do more wiring on it this year or at least not until the Autumn so we’ll see if we can unwire it without knocking anything off I’ve got some little wire cutters but I like to reuse the wire as possible I can see it’s just starting to right into the trunk very slightly there so that’s ideal time to get that off the tiny little wi marks there it seems to have H it oh has quite there we are so I’ve got a tiny little bit of wire marking on there hopefully that will grow out I might leave any visible scars on the trunk but uh as I’m learning as I’m going here it’s kept the uh shape nicely as well so that’s the Japanese maple the wi was just started to bite in there so I’ve taken it off at just the right time so that’s all looking good [Music]
