good morning everyone and welcome to my small garden in California Zone 9B I’m going to walk you around my garden and show you what’s going on in May I will come back to this Cottage Garden in a few minutes but first I’m going to start on this side of my garden where my beautiful nestam is in its blooming Glory they’re definitely at their Peak I believe believe this is the jewel mix blend and I didn’t plant this this beautiful plant just grew from a volunteer seed now I will take you through this tunnel and show you what’s back here I just made these arches out of cattle panel I bought one split it in two and then I had two arches for my garden as you can see right here my butterfly bush is blooming and behind that is my beautiful gar I think it’s just so Whimsical and pretty here’s a backside view of the gar and inside this tire is a sedum Autumn Joy it’s called Autumn Joy because it blooms in the fall and over in the other tire is a geranium I still have some larksburg popping out but look at all the big verbina I started with one plant and just shook seeds in my garden last year and now I have verbina [Music] everywhere and it looks like the hummingbird is enjoying my sunflower although the bee isn’t too happy about that all the sunflowers in my garden just came up on their own from last year’s seeds let’s see which way do you want to go next do you see my beautiful Elizabeth Bogan vilia oh my goodness it’s at of peak right now in this Center veggie box besides the model A Wheel there is a beautiful petunia and my Larks spur which already reached its peak on this side it’s growing more now in the front a along with some Snap Dragons behind that and that is a passion flower vine that’s growing over both Arbors it’s one passion flower vine but it made its way all the way across my granddaughter says it looks like a dinosaur or a dragon I just thought that was really cute her little imagination inside this vintage bathtub is a Lantana but it’s still a little bit early in the season for that to be blooming but you can tell it’s already leafed out and what happens every year is the volunteer sunflowers grow so I get a little sunflower show first and then when the sunflowers are kind of done then it’s time for the lantana to shine and my strawberries are in my Dollar Tree stackable containers they look so pretty it was one of my viewers who suggested that I grow strawberry in that and I’m so happy she did cuz I just love the way it looks a little petunia in this planter and a little nestum I’m not quite sure what variety this is I think it’s a I want to say an Alaska dwarf who knows but it sure is pretty that just popped up and surprised me below my buan vilia is a Dalia maybe that will be flowering for the June Garden Tour we’ll see oh and another nestum a little yellow nestum just popped up they just Reed everywhere in the [Music] garden and my Larks bur is so beautiful in here it’s starting to go to seeds so I will be harvesting the seeds so I can scatter them in my garden and have more Larks for next year if you notice these little red flowers that’s part of the pineapple sage shrub that’s pretty much taking over this entire bed and here is my beautiful Vega box flower bed I know a lot of people grow vegetables in these but I thought flowers look would look really pretty my irises are done blooming but what I did is I planted Zena seeds behind the stock that’ll give it more height and more color you know me I could never get enough color little yellow violas and the pink and purple stock with zenyas planted behind and in case you’re wondering what these three shelves are they’re actually benches they used to be in Stockton California at a bus stop or a school I forget and I painted them bright colors and just stacked them and I call this my succulent propagation station this is I guess you could say where I grow succulents and cacti and other things of that nature check out my beautiful euphoria isn’t that color just amazing it’s like a lime green and if you get close this is what really amazes me look at these tiny little red flowers it’s just so beautiful it’s really easy to make these bottle trees alls I did was I got rebar I hammered it in the ground and I got bottles and vases from the thrift store now behind here I want to show you what’s going on there’s this little empty space inside my garden and I was going to create a secret garden but what I’ve decided to do is just use this area for like a plant Cemetery or hospital I guess you could call it you know like when your bulbs are done blooming but you can’t pull them out of the pot or the ground because the leaves need to photosynthesize well I decided this would be a great area to put all those plants out of sight and out of mind do you have one of those areas in your garden back to Paradise here we go okay now let’s go in this direction in my garden my little roses that I got at my work I work as a courtesy clerk at a grocery store and in our floral department if we don’t sell things customers don’t want to buy them so they sell roses and orchids and all sorts of things for 50 cents each can you believe that and here is my succulent Barrel what’s stringing and flowing down here is called string of bananas and all the succulents on the bottom I just propagated from plants inside the main Barrel when they got too big I separated them and just stuck them on the ground pretty much created another Garden for free I believe these plants are called bells of Ireland I recently had the pleasure of visiting another YouTuber named Christina I made a video about that visit and she gave me these little plugs well they have definitely grown on our almost 2 ft tall and that is a white Naches crepe myrtle tree that I recently planted I almost killed myself doing it but with a little prayer and faith I got it in there all by myself and over there that is a red Dynamite crpe Myrtle I know I don’t talk about trees too much in my garden but since those are leafed out and looking pretty I thought I would mention those and and that’s another Japanese maple tree now my friends I have a question to ask you since you’re always so helpful when I ask you for your advice my sweet cat lucky I found him inside of an orchard in a little shoe box best cat I’ve ever had extremely affectionate okay here’s what I want to ask you see that Vega raised vegetable box well I’m thinking about moving it from this location I’m thinking about putting a green Japanese maple tree here since it doesn’t get a lot of sun but let me show you where I’m thinking of putting it let me take you outside and show you where I’m going to put it and in the meantime I’m going to walk through my narrow space vegetable garden this just goes to show you that even if you have a small space this is only 3T 4 in wide you can still grow things I have lots of peppers Tomos peas Tomatoes but let me take you out in front of my house okay what I’m thinking about doing is putting that veggie veggie box right there and maybe put Stepping Stones around it I’ve always wanted to put those boxes out in the front of my house not sure if that’s a good idea or not I would love to hear your thoughts the other side I have my Chinese pistache tree outlined in bricks with flowers and I just think this piece of grass could use something in the center maybe another tree or do you think that square vegetable box would look good in the center of there I don’t know I’m always thinking of new things I would love to know what you think back to the garden tour I call this area the center of my garden it’s where I sit and do potting and have tea Harvest seed and just relax and watch the birds and in the center this iron structure I have beautiful violas and patunas and my vinka Miner is going to be trailing soon and so is my creeping jenny this just came back this year I cut it back in the winter when it was looking like it was dying but I didn’t take the roots out and it all grew back this creeping jenny will get all the way to the pots on the bottom that’s how long it will grow and this is what’s behind me if I turn around in my chair little vintage sink with a maiden hair fern growing inside an old cart just sometimes a place where I keep my garden tools and start seeds those are colus seeds inside those little pots and look at my beautiful amarillis decided to open up and say good morning so who can guess what that device is to me it looks like a flower but it actually came from a car I guess that’s the fan that spins to keep a car cool I don’t know I just thought that was fun definitely a conversation piece inside this vintage bath tub I have some pesin sweet alysum behind that is some Snap Dragons another butterfly bush although this one isn’t as tall as my other one who knows maybe it’s starting to get crowded in that bath tub behind that is some Shasta daisies that are just starting to come up and of course my little Cottage [Music] Garden looks like the crysanthemum is blooming beautiful yellow crysanthemum little patunas I planted Zas of verbas getting nice and Tall now with the warmer weather weather on the way looks like everything’s going to start to flower and grow a few of you asked me where did I get these cute little scalloped bricks well truth is this was just one of those Landscaping stepping stones and then I sliced them in half with a concrete saw so I kind of made those myself I found this cute little bench at a garage sale for $10 some ladies husband made it and he passed away she sold it to me it was wood and then I painted it and just added the little hearts myself I just got this white landscape gravel at The Big Box Store and put it down no I didn’t put any plastic underneath of it but so far it really hasn’t been a problem for me at all when weeds pop up they’re so easy just to pull out of the ground and I am in the process of look looking for an arbor that goes all the way around not necessarily to grow anything on it but I just think it would look really cute so that’s my little garden goal and garden dream I’m sure we all have those and that is a zi crepe myrtle tree I got this cute little chicken solar light at the Tractor Supply that’s a Fe seed store in my area and it looks like my pink Larks is finally going to seed I will be harvesting those very soon so I can scatter them in my garden and have seeds for next year in that tire I grow a plumbago it got really tall this year usually it kind of trails and goes wide but this year it’s getting really really high that’ll be interesting to see how that looks when it blooms well I hope you enjoyed today’s May Garden Tour and I hope you have a beautiful day in your garden too thanks for watching bye-bye

  1. Happy Mother Day!!! I hope you enjoy todays garden tour and are able to have a beautiful day in your garden too. Please tell me if you like the NO music in my videos or if you miss that. ❤️🥰👍😀Liz

  2. Happy Mother's Day Liz ❤❤❤ I so enjoy watching your videos they are so peaceful and beautiful and lots of hard work I can tell!! Keep up doing what you are doing, it's so wonderful ❤❤

  3. Well happy Funday Sunday Miss Liz, I am beginning to think that you and I are gardening soul sisters. I have all the same plants in my high Mohave garden in Arizona. I built old wooden boxes with the old wheel rims, old pots, bottle trees, wheelbarrows and it goes on. You can never have enough garden whimsy.

I would put the veggie box along the fence and use stepping stones and then add out from that towards the house.
Leaves quite a bit of room to be creative. Have a happy mother's day.

  4. Happy Mother's Day!!! Everything looks beautiful. How do you have the bottles fixed above the fence that says Home Sweet Home? I'm always looking for new ways to add them in my garden..🥰❤💐

  5. Happy Mother's Day!! Everything is beautiful. How do you have the bottles fixed above top of the fence that says Home Sweet Home? I'm always looking for new ways to add them in my garden.💐🥰❤

  6. Your garden is looking beautiful. I like the music and you talking as well.
I would leave the container garden where it is. Maybe a small tree in the front?
Happy Mothers Day from Perth Western Australia.

  7. Looks like you have decided not to lower to the ground your round pavers. I would not put the metal box in the front yard. It looks better in the back garden. The garden is looking real good in May. Happy Mother's Day.

  8. Hi Liz Your pretty garden is looking so lovely, the tours are so fun! I think if you like the raised planter in the front and if it gets good sunshine you should try it – i know, with your ingenuity, when you set up that little area – it will turn out adorable! I like thinking out of the box ( haha the garden box that is ) Happy Mother's Day wishes to you and to all your subscribers! 🎉❤ from Andrea 😊 see you next time!

  9. Good morning, I love your garden. And I love your videos with music or just you talking. Everything is so colorful and beautiful. Hope you don't mind me saying but I think your black tires would be so pretty painted also. Lol! I paint our old tires different colors and plant Wildflowers in them. And I love them. Happy Mother's Day! From Tennessee USA 😊

  10. Hi. Happy Mother's Day. I enjoyed your May Garden Tour. At 15:53 minutes in your video, I saw some Yarrow. It is yellow. But you called it Shasta Daisies. I think it's Yarrow. I could be mistaken. Anyway, happy gardening. ❤🎉😊

  11. Enchanting! The whimsy is inspirational. I am looking forward to seeing the autumn sedum bloom. It's so lush! Happy Mother's Day!!!!

  12. Happy Mothers Day xx Our Mothers day here in the UK was in March. Your garden is stunning I love everything. Im struggling to grow flowers, Im going to stop buying the seeds and get the starts or plugs instead. I want lots of flowers as you have. xx

  13. Hi, Liz. The garden is fabulously full of fun and flowers. As for your question, I think moving the box to the front yard is a promising idea. Will there be more direct sun in the afternoon? Any particular plants you'd like to see there?

  14. I enjoyed that tour so much! Your garden is absolutely gorgeous right now! What a happy place to be! 🥰

  15. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful California garden with us like usual. It is just breathtakingly beautiful I also live in Southern California and we had a wonderful Mother’s Day today at Bellbrook California. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Mother’s Day too.

  16. The thing is …I believe that you should not be afraid to try new things if you desire them. What's the worst that could happen? Maybe you don't like it. So then you will know it doesn't fit. So my vote is go for it and see how you like it OR not.

  17. Just found your channel. Your garden is very nice. I live in Northwest Florida panhandle a half mile from Gulf of Mexico in a town called Gulf Breeze grow zone 9a. I’m an avid gardener specializing in tropical plants. Love growing bananas, cannas & colocasia. I was really amazed by your large planting of orange nastrium

  18. Your garden makes me so happy. I think the raised garden bed would look nice in the front, Maybe you can paint flowers on it like one of your doors.

  19. Yes!!! Put the veggie boxes in front. Nice working height as we age. You cannot eat the grass and it’s only color is dichromatic (living grass and dry dead patches 😳) It’s a container, so it often looks neater (I don’t use veggie boxes and my neighbors complain). I say go for it!!!

  20. The nasturtiums stole the show! 😍 Those vibrant blooms were absolutely stunning, and they added such a cheerful and whimsical touch to your garden.

  22. Everything looks so beautiful Liz! I think the area you call the cottage garden is my favorite! I planted bougainvillea last week. I hope it turns out as pretty as yours. I vote to leave the veggie garden box where it is and put a tree in the front yard, but I am sure whatever you decide to do will turn out beautiful 🌸🌼🌺

  23. One thing about it, if you do put the veggie bed out front, if you ended up not liking it, you can always move it. Sometimes remembering that helps me try things I am unsure of. So my 2 cents is move it there and try it and then you will know if you will like it there or not. You reminded me, I need to seed more coleus seeds.

  24. Yes, I think you should put that raised vegie box in that grass area. I don't know if you mow it or weed wack it, but you wouldn't have to do anything to it if you put the box there. Plus it gets some sun in that spot so you could grow more different things. It could be another colorful spot in your front yard. FYI, I bought another nasturtium and found that it needs more sun than I gave it last time and doesn't need to be watered a lot. I put it in a pot in my front, south facing yard, next to my wooden arbor. It's already grown in the week I've had it. So, we'll see how it goes. 🙂

  25. Liz, your garden keeps on getting better and better – always something to look forward to, changing over time and with the seasons. My current project is to expand and refresh the orchid garden area a little since I asked for a new orchid for Mother's Day and I plan to add two more in different colors, then add more colorful glass garden art. Found a great deal on two PVC garden arbors yay my last project this year. The heat and rainy season have arrived. I'm still trying for one last batch of Zinnia and Cosmos seeds:). Native salvias self-seeded and I'm hoping this year's heat-tolerant, perennial Basil experiments will work out. Happy Mother's Day and happy gardening!

  26. What a Beautiful Garden. There is so much other things to look at and that makes it interesting. Thank you for letting us visit you for awhile and I enjoyed every minute of it. So until next time God Bless you and your family and have a Blessed evening and stay safe my dear and Special Friend. Happy Gardening!!!❤❤❤

  27. I have my veggie boxes in my small front yard. It looks great. I planted some yarrow in my 4 in 1 apple trees planter box. The Indian named crepe Myrtle’s do not get powdery mildew if there the Indian name varieties. Judy
