Front Yard Garden

Single spray nozzle vs dual boom- which is best for YOU??

getting maximum bang for bark when spraying products in our lawn is something that we all want to do and a way that you’re going to do that is by maximizing and having the right spray setup for your yard so in today’s video I’m going to be talking about my newi is spray setup that I’ve been using recently and comparing that to my old setup which always got a lot of interest from people on social media so we will compare them and help you figure out what might be best in your situation let’s get into it yes get a and welcome to a new video and as as of today when this video is being posted welcome to Winter we are having a pretty beautiful finish to Autumn here in southeast Victoria although it’s been quite dry which is strange so I’ve almost been contemplating coming out here to water this lawn we’re about to get some rain Thursday Friday this week so hopefully that’ll be fine um things are still looking quite nice and something that’s going to keep it looking quite nice is my liquid fertilizer application today and like I mentioned at the start I’m going to be comparing the two different spray setups that I have used out on this front lawn to help you out hopefully seeing really really nice growth and color out here these trees are making a stupid amount of mess so I’ll get that all cleaned up and lay a few stripes on here and then get into some spray chat [Music] [Music] n [Music] well it’s beautiful to be outside on a nice warm sunny day 20° today amazing amazing weather it’s about to go downhill unfortunately but great to be outside getting a few steps in cutting some grass I must say though it’s not really needing it that much so that is a week’s worth of growth so last week when I said we’re on weekly Ms could probably easily be fortnightly M at the moment and it’s only going to drop off as winter goes on but what I’ll be doing today to continue to hold on to some color and keep it nice and healthy is apply some liquid fertilizer using my sprayer now what I used to use and what I’ve always used at this house up until recently was this Jewel um Jewel boom nozzle I think it’s called and so it’s essentially just got those two nozzles on there it always got a lot of interest whether it was on Instagram the occasional YouTube comment of people knowing where it’s from and all that sort of thing uh silven gave it to me but you can look it up their dealers and where they where they sell it um and I really enjoyed using it it felt a lot more efficient like I was getting a wider amount of spray so I needed walk less passes over the lawn and I mean it just it just looks cool you know it just feels cool being able to use it but I did recently die it had a good uh 2 and 1/2 years of life and it had died so I went to a single um nozzle because that’s just what I had and I’ve actually been enjoying using it and yeah made me reflect to think maybe this is not so well suited to this particular yard one place where is well suited is on this nature strip nice long straight rectangle absolutely no worries and then another place where it is well suited is out here on this project patch which just quietly for the time of year that I did that lawn renovation in burland sand how Bloody good is it looking haven’t actually mowed it for 2 weeks I should have mowed it before this clip but anyway a big wide open space where this dual boom works fine one thing I would say with this Booms that you need to do is make sure that those two lines of spray there are not not going straight into each other I always tried to hold it probably about that high off the ground so that that would spray to there that would spray to there but there would always be some times when there was crossover or there was [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh sh [Music] So based on the start of this video you might have been taking a little bit more notice than normal of some of those little tight sections that I’m spraying up in the top parts of the lawn if I wasn’t lazy I’d take that hose off to M and spray but up here is where it gets awkward so now I’m left with this tiny little awkward corner it’s probably not too bad to just spray like that either way I’m not going to get it super clean and even that what I just did there is about as close as I am going to get now when I am going straight up and down gets a little bit easier as well and something that you could also do if you have a tight corner like that is when I went that way just leave that and then just come up here and go up and then back that tiny little bit it’s all about getting these applications as even as you possibly can and so by all means it’s probably not a huge difference to use the single nozzle here rather than using the double but I definitely do prefer it I think it’s enough of a difference that if I was Starting Over Again from scratch I wouldn’t bother buying a double n nozzle out here on this front lawn I’d just be more than happy with the single so I’ll finish off that nice easy nature strip and juggle the little bits of Breeze that are just coming through intermittently here and really frustrating me literally couldn’t couldn’t have been in half an hour’s time had to be now so when it dies down at times I’ll I’ll get that final bit of spray out there and then we’ll have a chat about some final things barely had wind for ages so we have been getting quite lucky to be [Music] [Applause] [Music] fair well really really happy with how things are looking out here next application sort of start of July the one after that early to mid August and then the one after that is sort of my pre uh spring renovation fertilizer application so yeah I I know what it is I don’t know why but it feels like already this Autumn’s gone really quick and this Winter’s going to go really quick but in summary today Jewel versus single nozzle on your sprayer the double boom it looks cool it’s fun to use will it speed up your application process that much more than a single nozzle I don’t really think so is it worth the $ 20 or $30 that they cost I think that’s maybe what they cost I’ll put it here on the screen if it’s not that but is it worth that money look if you want to spend 20 or 30 bucks and that’s nothing to you then you know go for your life is it going to change your life and be the best thing ever for your spraying I would say my experience of you know the two plus years that I used it probably not and there are certain applications which I’ve touched on today which will you know hopefully match up to your situation to know whether it will suit you there’s heaps of things to spend money on in lawn care so look if you think that a dual boom is a good fit for you then go for it if you are just using the single nozzle that came standard with your sprayer that’s also fine so I hope hope you enjoyed that video I’ll be back again out on the back lawn next week it has not been moded for 2 weeks out there and it needs a bit of love so be back out there recording next week and yeah look thank you for watching that video hope you enjoyed it hope you got something out of it and I’ll see you in the next one jeez [Music] m

  1. I’m in Ballarat and it’s very dry this year to the point I’ve had to keep up regular watering. We’ve only had 10mm this month.

  2. I’ve got the same dual nozzle boom and have been thinking of going back to the single nozzle. Little frustrating with the dual boom, a slight change of height you can get gaps and overlaps.
