well hello everyone welcome to the frontier purpose Channel my name is Billy and today well today let’s just have a little conversation of what had happened throughout the week it had been a really busy week for us um we we did a whole bunch of stuff in the garden we we did the potatoes uh the potatoes are are planted already uh we did the uh broccoli we did the um cauliflowers the tomatoes the peppers the onions are are there uh our actually our strawberries are starting to flour already uh Mrs d uh pointed out to me yesterday and she’s like look at this and I was like well there you go so hopefully we get some uh strawberries soon um my squash I have two varieties of squash that I have to plant um however although the weather was really good until yesterday yesterday uh it started raining and and it’s a good thing that it started raining because uh we put our cauliflowers and our um broccoli in so we were hoping for some raining sure enough the moment that we finish bam it has been raining nonstop our quails are doing great uh I should be hatching or the eggs should be hatching between tomorrow and Sunday so hopefully we get a good amount of um chicks this time I I put 60 eggs to um incubate let’s see how many we get I’ll let you guys know how many we get um I did a quick uh prepping haul um I’m just going to discuss with you what I got today um things that I have seen on a special uh not really needing a whole lot of stuff uh obviously all we doing nowadays is filling out the gaps here and there um once you finish preparing you know at least getting the basics and what not uh all you do now is just replace you know you use a I don’t know a a bag of garbage bags uh or a box of garbage bags and you know just take it out put it in your list and you know just put it back the initial thing is was going to cost you a bit and that’s what a lot of folks get into the um headaches because they want to get there like sooner rather than later because they see the right on the wall and honestly I have to admit there there is uh there is quite a bit of a writing on the wall uh and and and folks should be worri of that but if if you can’t do it you can’t do it and you got to go uh slow that’s that’s fine that’s not a problem um but yeah oh the last thing that I I forgot to mention and I’m going to do an in depth review on this later on but we finally got Mrs D trike ebike yes it’s a trike uh but but it’s also electric uh we got the the boxes and everything unfortunately we had to reach out to the company uh because they send the bike they send all the extra stuff that she got for mother’s day that was her Mother’s Day gift by the way and uh they did not include the batteries so we reach out to the company the same day that we got it and we were like hey um there’s no batteries in here and they they explained in the email they say that unfortunately because you are in Alaska we have to send the bike uh one way in a pallet and the batteries in a different way because uh those lithium batteries cannot fly so they have to go um you know via ground so it’s going to be here in a few days so I will be putting that bike together uh not going to film how to put a bike together you all know how to put a bike together you guys are way smaller than me so I don’t have to do none of that it’s a good thing good very good thing but I will make a review alongside my quiet cat I do have a ranger quiet cat that I purchased last year during the off seon uh and I got a really good price on that one I actually pay half of what uh I pay for these uh uh trike uh these trike also is foldable so that’s that’s another thing um it’s a really nice one to tell you the truth a really nice one really good reviews on it um it holds up to 3 300 lb uh it has Basket in front of I’m not I’m not tell you what I’m not going to go into what it has and what what not I will do a review and I put both side by side uh lass is currently learning how to ride a bike I know right uh lass know how to ride an ATV uh those type of things he knows how to do ride a bike he does not so he’s learning now I got him um one of those uh adult uh uh training wheels so he can practice his balance and whatnot because I mean for the boy is 10 years old and he’s bigger than the already I know anybody can be bigger than the I think the in a good in a good day is like maybe 4 and 1/2 ft tall just little anyways um so yeah I got a couple of things today uh that I ordered because they were on special um this weekend if you need something make sure that you look for those special deals um I I I was actually uh thinking about getting extra flashlights I’m not a flashlight guy I I have the same one that I got when I move here uh that my headlamp that I have to use 6 months out of the Year those of you who don’t know Alaska is Extreme 6 months out of the year we get 24/7 daylight that you have to literally close the curtains cuz you can’t sleep there’s light coming in the other another six month of the year is Darkness you get lucky especially during the dark times if you get 3 hours of dusk that’s it so we have to have flashlight like head lamps and what not and I saw this one on special uh for $14 um the headlamps that I have with the same brand and I have been really lucky with them uh and this one is a clip on you can clip it on your shoulder you can clip it on your belt and what not 250 LS um rechargeable guys I really don’t know a lot about flashlights I saw good reviews uh $14 honestly I was like okay let me let me jump on let me see what’s going on I got two uh this one right here and there’s another one in the back I’ll be trying this one um and I’m probably going to give one to the or last whoever wants one I also got um a little bit of uh Freedom seeds a 3030 and 350 7 you never have enough uh and I got a strap uh that one is actually to toe um that is for 500 lb that’s for the ATVs in case it an ATV gets um stuck or you know breaks down or whatever we have to toll it back to civilization uh you better have it better have it and not need it than need it and not have it I I know I I have a winch and everything but if somebody else gets you know stuck or whatever and I have to go in there and just pull him out Jank him out whatever now I have that the other one that I have is for 10,000 lbs it’s a lot bigger than that does not have the hook so I decided to get uh that one right there um one thing that I actually did this weekend I upgraded the uh the Water uh dispensers for for the qus and I’m going to do a video a uh do a yourself type of video so I can show you how I did it because it’s working really well uh those of you who who uh have quails who have pigeons who have uh Ducks um chickens and whatnot you know how messy it is when it comes to water and and birds I mean they literally get in there and just dump the water and then you get one of those um containers that it has the bottom part and the water get dispens in there you know all around uh those things even if you hang it um they do make a mess this one has a a Dipper literally I mean they have to touch the thing to get I will show you guys later on next week uh once I put it together I put two already together I need to do another two but I will show you I will do a video on that um on that specific uh actually I couldn’t find a way uh for quails and I think this is work work uh a lot of folks just use the hangy ones and I I have I just don’t like it because they make a mess I like the the drip one better um but yeah I mean we have been really really busy and and prepping is one of those things that um keeps you busy no matter what um one thing that I I want to uh talk to you about is that I I I came across a a video it’s a channel that I follow um and in one of his videos uh he made a really good point to say you know prepping has three three steps one uh the first one is people with um the Preppers uh like they get the food they get the go bag they go they get the uh the bugout thing you know it’s just like the first initial step the second part is homesteading and the third is homesteading with Community uh and that I was like you know he he makes sense I mean I didn’t I didn’t thought about it to begin with because to me I was being you know I was born and raised in Cuba you need your neighbor you need to prepare no matter what so to put things in a in a different perspective sometimes is a good thing uh the way I see everything is like well this is what I have been doing my entire life so um I just don’t know how to define it in in different ways you see what I’m saying I don’t uh to me you know like I just put everything together and it just smoosh everything I just make a Cher spy off out of everything um but he he was spot on to tell you the truth um and and I and I and I started thinking I was like well that’s a good way to uh Define things you know you start you’re you’re prepping uh um journey into you know like you have to get food you have to stock by your things you get your go bag you get your your your your boomsticks and whatnot and then you move to homesteading because you want to be more selfreliance because you know now that by having all of this one day is it’s going to go away because you’re going to eat all your food you’re going to drink all your water you’re going to you you you cannot sustain this for a long period of time so you need to become a homesteader uh meaning that you become more self-reliance you you create now you own electricity you you grow your own food you raise your own animals and whatnot but just being a homestead right here is not enough there’s only so much that we can do alone so we need a community and that’s where the final step on in in prepping and I agree with that 100% comes in how having a community um having a community uh it sometimes it proves it proves a little challenging to tell you the truth because unlike what I come from um you know you you just go to your neighbor and that’s the way everybody is but nowadays people don’t need each other as much um I mean even think about it think about it I I live in Miami uh for a while when I was younger and I didn’t know my neighbor granted that was a city and and the countryside when when I became an adult and what not I I knew all my neighbors and and and such however that was in Florida by the way but nonetheless everybody works and that 825 sometimes becomes a uh an obstacle if you will because when you when they have the day off they don’t want to talk to you they want to have a beer and what not and just want to do a barbecue with their family but you know I guess what I’m trying to say here is sometimes we have to make an effort even if we don’t want to because it’s a little bit out of a comfort zone you know community at the end of the day we will be our Saving Grace that’s that’s what I’m trying to say because a lot of times even um just talking to somebody else and hearing somebody else respected will bring a a big chunk of wisdom in a different idea to what you are doing um for example if I want to I don’t know build a fence I might want to talk to some other folks to see how they did it uh to get ideas and might some folks may come over to my property and be like oh really based on your topography you might want to do it like this don’t use poles use your trees you know stuff like that get ideas brainstorm that’s what community is really good that’s where it chines the most to tell the truth when you got different perspectives of um like-minded people working together and I want to emphasize on that you need to find a community that is like minded people don’t bring into your community an argumentative s so just don’t because that that’s just going to destroy everything uh we had uh back in Cuba um folks that we avoided like the plague uh and those were the the know nosy ones uh uh the chimos or Chimas uh you know just people that just come in to hear something and start gossiping that we avoided those people like the plague I mean I mean the moment that we see them come in and we we were a group of people talking hey let’s uh let’s go uh such and such is coming over let’s go because it happens it really does happen nonetheless um that is was being going on uh in the frontier prer uh um Homestead if you will um nothing more nothing less we going to be taking it easy uh over the weekend the uh the girls the pugs are both having a procedure done today so they have to be uh come no running no jumping or anything like that they had to be uh you know in their in their Behavior which they are not home at all they’re crazy pugs I mean they are an Energizer Bunny for 5 minutes and they fall asleep uh it’s just crazy the way it is but we still have fun with them and what not um oh yeah uh before I let you guys go um I didn’t post anything about this actually I think I did I think I shared with y’all a a picture maybe maybe now I don’t know I I can’t remember now uh too many things going on but we did actually put a a seat on one of the ATVs and Mrs D actually no we did we did share a short with y’all U Mrs D took the girls on a ride with the ATV and they loved it they really did loved it they do have their harness and they do get Buckle um on their harness and whatnot so they can’t go nowhere but it was just awesome see them having fun so they you guys going to see pugs on the road uh on the trails pretty soon because the trails uh most Trails will be open after the 26 of this month so it’s something that we definitely looking forward to uh we do have um trails around our area or around our property that we can utilize but we want to hit the mountains and those trails are fixing to open um the state don’t open the trails until um the 26th of this month after May 26 because they want to have the trails dry and and whatnot right now um well not right now but they’re really close to be good and ready but here at least they try to take care of those Trails because if you let the ATVs go right now or before uh this time doing breakup they just going to tear everything up tear everything up and that’s just going to be you know dep prental for all of us I mean we got to take care of what we have otherwise we will never be able to have good things or how was the saying going because of you we can’t have nice things right that’s what you tell people when they’re with the screwing the pooch anyway guys enough jibber jabber I figured that I would do a sit down video and just talk to you all um you know like we haven’t done in a while um some of you have asked me whether or not we going to come back and do live streams uh Our Lives is uh are are are crazy right now we doing a lot of stuff I told you all um I said that I was retired I am more busy now than ever and I am enjoying every single moment and Mrs D is enjoying every single moment um because now we get to go and just do things uh that we couldn’t do before so we are um utilizing every single minute that we have to enjoy uh and to prep as much as we can and to do the things uh that we couldn’t do before when we still have some youth in our side um so that is it for today um hopefully you are got having plans for this weekend uh is Memorial Day weekend go out and enjoy if you’re going to drink don’t drive I don’t ever never say that because I don’t drink at all period at all uh so I I never give that advice but I see more and more people at least in my area in Fairbanks Alaska um you know getting into accidents due to the hooch so be careful if you’re going to drink don’t drive call a taxi I’m not a fan of uh hooers or anything like that but if that’s what you got that’s what you got so that being said enough give driver like I rock on prep on and I will see you in the next one bye-bye everybody
