I look forward to creating this spring garden display every year. This tablescape is the centrepiece of our patio for the first few months of the gardening season. It’s a simple, fun and relaxing project that provides colour and interest while we wait for the garden to wake up.

[Music] [Music] hi everyone welcome back to Cotto verie today I’m doing one of my favorite things and I thought I’d bring you along I am going to be creating my spring tablescape um out on the garden um dining table that we have on the patio and every spring I like to Adorn it with various different shapes of pots with little you know cute petite plants and flowers in it and I thought I’d show you what I’m going to be putting in my pots and then how I’m going to create the tablescape in case you want to do something similar so I’m going to show you the plants that I’m going to be putting in and then I’m going to show you the containers going to be using and then I’ll show you how I plant them up and then you’ll get to see the finished tablescape result right at the end so I’ve laid out here the various different little itty bitty plants I’m going to be using so I’ve got to start off with aren’t these just the most adorable things how do you say that Chamis Paris ciss Paris um anyway they’re a full Cypress and they’ve just got the cutest little curves and funny shapes and I thought they would be really cute background I’ve got a slightly different one here this one’s called teddy bear and I just really liked the shape and because it’s a bit taller and I thought that would be like a nice background plant and then I’ve bought one of these just because it was silver and I really liked the fluffy silverness but I definitely don’t want the yellow flowers by the time this flowers it will be sour and I be over all the yellow only like yellow for daffodils really so this is called a lavender and it will grow to 30 cm tall and 60 wide um so these are all going to be brilliant in the landscape when I’m done with them so I can just plant them out in the garden and we’ve got something that’s very familiar to everybody probably a lame lamium lamium so this is a really good ground cover plant it spreads really nicely it’s got this lovely silvery foliage um I think it’s really cute and this one has pink flowers it’s called be and silver and then I just really fancied some chamomile and I think the chamomile will look cute when it flowers too but I really liked it for sort of this Mossy like Greenery and I’m hoping that I’m going to be able to split this quite easily um if I want to because this is also going to spread really nicely so this one will spread to 30 cm wide um it’s not going to get very tall about 20 cm tall and then I’ve got a couple of these These are called praus so so praters are called star creepers I guess because of the starry shaped flowers and it’s called pen pendula because I guess it’s trailing so it says it’s got tiny pale blue Starry flowers covering the spread Evergreen foliage from May to September so it’s going to be really long flowering full sun part shade and it will grow to 45 cm wide in 3 years I think that sounds like a really long time I don’t know whether that’s true or not and then oh these are really dry I don’t even know what these are called but I think they’re probably very familiar to everybody and I just really liked the texture I think these are going to look really cute to some of my pots but they’re very dry they need a good water um but they’re just really tiny little plants and then I have four of these Veronicas so this Veronica is called tidal pool and it’s this sort of creeping Veronica or speed well I think they’re called speed Wells and this one has stunning spikes of bright blue flowers I mean that’s typical of these um ground cover Veronicas and it will flower from early to Midsummer it’s going to grow 10 cm tall and 30 cm wide and I’ve got four of those and I think they just sort of root in um wherever they’re touching the soil can you see the little Roots here so wherever it’s touching um soil it will create roots and um that’s how it spreads and then these are the flowers I’ve got so I’ve got six pots of a sax saxifrage called lofty dark Rose these are called Rock foils because they’re really good for like rockeries um they need to be planted with really good drainage I’ve got some little pink ones here these ones are called lofty pink and I think they’re really cute very soft gentle pink and then I’ve I could only find one of these I wish I was able to find more but this is a blue and enemy blender so this is also really good ground cover and I would definitely be planting it out in the garden when I finished with it I’ve got an ala here so this one’s called ala Alma anthropoda Alma so it’s going to have the same limey green flowers as alcha mollis and I’m sure it’s pretty much the same this one’s a dwarf ladies mantle so it’ll only grow to 20 cm x 20 cm I just really like the texture I think it’ll go really nicely with everything and then I’ve got two of these Veronicas so this is another speed well and this one is called Georgia Blue it’s got these cute little blue flowers with little white centers um this one’s actually quite leggy but again this one wherever it’s touching compost is going to root in and you know to tidy it up once it’s finished flowering we can just cut off the blue but I just really wanted something trailing and blue right now and then these are the containers I’m going to be using so if you’ve been following my channel a while you will have seen this little um Garden bird cage so I line the bottom with moss and I’m not really changing that out but I have emptied out the compost from last year and um then I’ve got some trays so these are just wire trays one has got a stand on it um I’m not sure I’m going to be able to fill the big one today I don’t think I’ve got enough plants but these are just other wire trays that I really like and then I’ve got some um this is a bowl that had snow drops in it I need to tip those out because they didn’t grow and then I’ve got some little wire baskets a couple of low pots plant food seers down here I have a few more pots that I’m going to fill with anything that I have left over so I’ve got some compost this is fresh compost I’ve just put it in this pot for the the basis of this but this is compost mixed with Horticultural grit I’ve also got plant food um this is just slow release plant food and I’m just going to tip some into that and mix it around because we do want to feed our plants and then the other thing I forgot to mention is that I’ve got Moss some I’ve got some old Moss sheet moss and some I’ve got some that’s a bit fresher so I’ll use the Browner stuff where we can’t really see it but I’m actually not going to change the moss in here I think it’s quite green still oh let’s take that weed out we don’t want weeds growing and if in fact this Moss is so happy that it’s actually growing quite well in most instances and I think the Moss isn’t really important around the sides as much because the plants are going to cover it so the first thing we going to do is just put a little bit of compost in the bottom of here I don’t want to put too much because these plants have come with root balls oh get out of there so got a bit of compost in there and then I’m going to choose which plants I’m putting in and I think this will look really nice at the back here and I’m probably going to have to mess with the root balls a little bit and take some of the compost off now as I said before a lot of these are going to end up in my landscape afterwards and I think it’s just a really nice way to be able to use both plants twice tce so I’m just shoving that there I do think I want a little bit of moss at the back because it’s going to be important to keep the root ball really moist I think I’d like to really like to put the enemies in and I would really like to put in some of these did I mention that I’ve got some um what are they called lily of the valley so I’ve got some lily of the valley bulbs and I want to plant those in here so I think I’m going to push these to the back I’d really like to put the Silvery one in with the blue I think it’ll look really cute oh things blowing around in the garden it is supposed to start raining this afternoon so let’s see how much I can get [Music] done and I just think these are so cute and Woodland I really like them I would like to be able to split them up and do half in one spot and half in another but I don’t know if that’s possible they kind of really tucked in well together and although I can see the corns I don’t know what will happen oh now I can split them excellent so this one still got some little buds yet to flower so I’m going to push this one to the back here and then I’m going to put this one in this corner and I’d really like to put one of these little wispy things in here I don’t know whether it’s going to survive because it’s really dry let me just run some water on [Music] that [Music] I’m going to have to turn it around to face me but B basically what I’m doing is just shoving compost in the front here and packing it all in it’s a little bit easier to do if we put some I’m just taking a bit of moss and tucking it into the front and then filling that with compost it’s a little bit easier to do I found over the years of doing this and then we just have to do a bit of arranging so I like to have things poking out of the sides I think it looks really cute I’m just going to put a bit bit of compost on the top just to make sure everything is nicely tucked in and nothing is going to get too dry it’s really important um with these sort of arrangements to make sure everything’s covered and then I’m just going to take little bits of moss and tuck them on top where I can see bare soil because that will also help it all to stay moist I love doing this so much this is miniature gardening is definitely one of my favorite favorite things to do let me see what this side looks like and if you don’t have any sheet Moss you can definitely just grab Moss from the garden I mean there’s nothing special I’m just using the Moss as a container coner really to contain everything and then I find that this arrangement in here tends to stay um relatively moist U because it’s got a solid bottom so the water can only really drain out once it reaches sort of where this fret work is um so this is actually really good but everything is raised quite high so nothing sitting in boggy soil or anything like that I just want to put a bit more moss in the corner here going to turn it around to face I’m just going to put another lily of the valley in the middle I I feel like I want a little bit more color in the middle there and it’s not going to be immediate it’s only going to be you know we’ll only get the color when it actually flowers there we go you can’t really see the blue but there are two little blue flowers on this side I think that looks really cute like a real little Woodland scene I just need a little toy fairy or something so this needs watering in um just to settle all the soil and so with this basket I’m going to put a bit of the still got a pine cone on there a bit of the slightly less green moss on the bottom because that’s not as important you’re not going to see the bottom and then I’ll put put some of the greenos around the sides and this is just to hold the compost in um and because aesthetically it looks really cute saxifrage likes really well- drained soil and that is why cos you’re in the way Cosby you’re in the way that one seems a bit taller so saxifrage likes really well- drained soil which is why I’ve put grit in amongst here now these plants are going to spread they will get to about 30 cm wide um they’re probably not going to get that wide in this little basket here sorry about the planes um but that’s fine I don’t mind that at all um I just want a really nice display for now and then when I plant them out in the landscape in my borders that’s the time when i’ be really happy for them to spread so I’m just making a well oh I think I forgot to put in plant food I didn’t mix plant food in there so I really do want to put plant food in because cuz that will really help with the flowering and I’m tucking them in nice and deep now obviously being in this very well ventilated um Mossy container is going to Aid drainage so that’s another reason why I like planting in these containers especially with something like the saxifrage I really want to plant up this enormous tray because because I haven’t planted this one before I’ve always used it as a tray but I think it’s just going to make the most perfect container so I’m going to line the bottom with old Moss so we do want to make sure there’s a pretty good layer on the bottom because that’s what’s going to stop the compost falling out when it rains um we don’t want any gaps really which is why it’s also nice to have deeper sides because um then we can get sufficient compost in it afterwards I think that’s pretty good so then I’m just going to go around the outside with The Greener [Music] [Music] Moss [Music] w [Music] la [Music] n [Music] he [Music] a [Music] so of course I got caught in the rain and I have rain hair I could fuss with this for hours and I probably will keep changing it um because it’s really dull now because it’s claded over and there’s going to be a storm um what I’ll do is I’ll show you what I’ve done today and then hopefully tomorrow there’ll be some sunshine and I’ll tap that onto the end of the video here so if it looks Sunny suddenly it’s just because I’ve taken a better video um when the sun was out because it looks a little bit dull at the moment but let me show you cuz I still think it looks really pretty so this is our patio area and this is the view from our kitchen and so you can see why this tablescape here is so important um and why I love it so much in the spring and you know I’ve dotted a few ceramic birds around and things like that just cuz I like to add to it but I think as everything starts flowering it just becomes so pretty obviously I’ve got the prim roses that I had on this table before but let me show you some closeups so these are the prim roses that I had before I think they go really well with the saxifrage this is the chamomile at the back there I’ve got the lodge of Veronica I’ve left the soil bear on that pot because I’m really hoping it’ll root in and then this is the um long planter that I put three saxifrage in we’ve got the AL at the front we’ve got whatever that is there I don’t even know what that’s called and then this is the large round planter that I’ve got the dwarf false cypress in with some saxifrage around we’ve got some Prim roses at the back we’ve got the lovely golden Conifer at the back I think that looks really nice with the spring arrangements and then this is the other um long planter the basket that I’ve planted that’s got a heie in it some Veronica saxifrage at the back and then onto the little bird cage and the lamium on the end here this is not a real bird cage by the way it’s completely ornamental and my tulip pots in the background I really do think the colors look really nice with the Tulip pots I’m so happy about how everything just tones in and blends really nicely I’m very excited to have some pops of blue I really like to have the limey Green in the spring as well my goodness the weather but I have had fun despite the rain and the wind um I really enjoy doing this tablescape every year if you’d like to see the one that I did last year I’ll put that in the description below I’ll I’ll do a link to the video anyway I really hope I provided some inspiration and entertainment thank you so much for watching and I’ll see you all next time

Thank you so much for this great video with so many wonderful ideas for creating your own garden of Eden !!
I'm a great fan of English cottage gardens, although I don't have a garden of my own. But I just find it very interesting to watch other people arranging all these beautiful plants and flowers skillfully and thereby creating a garden paradise, that always looks different.
Enjoy your beautiful and imaginative garden and best regards from Vienna 🇦🇹 👋
I live in Colorado USA and I love the wire vine but I find that they are very hard to keep alive
I have a question for you Miss Sweet Annette, I have tons of moss growing on my forest paths. My question is, can I pull this moss up and use it in my wire flower boxes or will it be to buggy? Maybe it will help my flowers? Thank you❤
I do grow that little wire plant. I would pick off the yellow leaves and it doesn’t like to be overwatered. It like it more on the dry side❤❤❤
Everything looks magical. I so enjoyed your fluffy helper, he steals the show❤
