I’m trying to grow a small pear tree with Ann Ralph’s technique. I think this is scion growth because it’s above the graft line but, they are so close I’m not sure. I’m new to this.
My other question is, are thaws too close to the graft site to leave as scaffolding branches? The tree won’t be any taller than I am (5’8’’). They are pretty much the only branches to use as scaffolding unless I cut them off and hope the tree pushes out some more next year.
