Dug up all the grass from a small patch in my yard and incorporated a bunch of compost because the soil was crappy. Planted a wildflower mix. Several weeks later, I’m realizing that most of what’s growing are volunteers from the compost. Tomatoes, amaranth, tomatillo, squash… nary a flower in sight.
sigh I’m going to just let it go & see what happens.
Meanwhile, I’m going to have to improve my composting so that it gets hot enough to kill seeds.
