how to prune tomato plants if your tomato plants are unruly or overrun with disease pruning is a great idea you want to train to a single stem so you have the single stem going upward then you’re going to have horizontal branches coming off of that main stem you can see them coming out at pretty much a 90° angle what we want to do is prune off the suckers which are going to be the little pieces coming out at a 45° angle out of the arm pit or elbows of the main stem and those horizontal branches all you have to do is take your fingers and pinch off those 45° angle suckers so that they can’t develop into full blown tomato plants this will keep your tomato patch nice and organized
